About the Job:

We are seeking an experienced stop loss underwriter, with strong project management skills, to lead and coordinate renewal initiatives within our stop loss renewal operations. This role involves managing complex renewal processes, improving workflows, and supporting strategic initiatives across Crumdale organizational departments. The ideal candidate will have a background in medical stop loss insurance underwriting and project management, to drive efficiency across the renewal lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Leadership: Manage end-to-end renewal initiatives, including ongoing renewal review and change processes, lead sales and underwriting to executive directed outcomes, develop and support process improvements, and apply organizational-driven changes
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with leadership, underwriting, clinical, Rx, sales, and account management teams to gather requirements, strategize on outcomes, and finalize deliverables; facilitate departments adherence and support of timely corporate initiatives, related stop loss renewal processes
  • Risk Assessment: Analyze risk factors associated with renewal outcomes, develop strategies to mitigate potential losses and issues, and provide financial recommendations to foster retention and compliance
  • Process Optimization: Identify opportunities to continually improve and streamline the renewal workflow, enhance efficiency, and ensure adherence to company guidelines and policies
  • Stakeholder Communication: Maintain clear and consistent communication with all stakeholders, providing regular updates on renewal progress, challenges, and outcomes
  • Training and Support: Facilitate training sessions and develop documentation to support the implementation of improved renewal processes or systems

Requirements
  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Insurance, or a related field desirable
  • Industry Experience: 5+ years underwriting in medical stop loss underwriting in renewal operations, and also 2+ years project management experience
  • Underwriting Knowledge: Strong understanding of medical stop loss underwriting principles, risk assessment techniques, and stop loss products
  • Required Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft program suite with special focus on excel and access database/underwriting systems, and applied project management tools (e.g. MS Project, Jira, Asana)
  • Analytical Abilities: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex renewal scenarios and implement effective solutions
  • Communication Skills: Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, capable of effectively conveying information and direction to diverse audiences
  • Leadership Qualities: Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams, manage multiple renewal-related initiatives simultaneously, and drive improvements to completion
