Northrop Grumman’s Space Systems Sector is seeking a Reliability Systems Engineer – Level 3 to join our team in Redondo Beach, CA.

*This position is contingent upon the candidate obtaining final clearances and program access(es) within a reasonable period of time as determined by the company. Continued employment thereafter will be subject to maintenance of the level of clearance and program access required for the position in the future.

Job responsibilities and expectations include, but are not limited to, the following:

-Perform various reliability related tasks including: leading reliability support to the design team through the performance of design tradeoffs, reliability predictions/assessments, de-rating analysis, allocation of reliability requirements, failure rate estimation/assessments, performing/facilitating Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), facilitate identification of critical items and documentation of controls/mitigations, and provide support to design reviews and failure investigations. 

-Ability to understand and interpret electrical schematics/drawings, functional block diagrams, and accurately create reliability block diagrams. 

-Ability to develop technical solutions to potential reliability and availability problems. 

-Adapt with probability and statistical tools/principles to recognize and solve problems involving non-standard configurations/definitions of system success. 

-Ability to utilize industry tools to conduct Reliability analysis. 

Basic Qualifications for Reliability Systems Engineer – Level 3:

-Bachelor's degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) discipline plus 5+ years of engineering experience OR

-Master’s degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) discipline plus 3+ years of engineering experience OR  

-PhD in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) discipline plus 1+ year(s) of engineering experience

-Ability to perform various reliability engineering related tasks such as reliability predictions/assessments, failure rate estimation/assessments, and perform/facilitate Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) 

-Familiarity with modeling/simulation software tools used for Reliability analysis 

-Familiarity with understanding and interpreting electrical schematics/drawings, functional block diagrams, and ability to accurately create reliability block diagrams

-Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen with an active U.S. Government Secret security clearance (or equivalent) at time of application and prior to start date.

-Additionally, candidate must have the willingness and ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Top Secret security clearance (or equivalent) as well as active SCI access within a reasonable period of time as determined by the company. Continued employment thereafter will be subject to the candidate’s maintenance of the level of clearance and program access required for the position in the future.

Preferred Qualifications for Reliability Systems Engineer – Level 3:

-Bachelor's degree or above in Electrical, Mechanical, or Computer Engineering

-Understanding of technical principles, theories, subsystem design, and knowledge of general satellite design 

-Ability to combine hands-on Reliability Analysis and modeling skills for satellite, directed energy hardware, and systems

-Availability modeling and analysis experience or exposure

-Experience performing a Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and failure rate estimation

-PM&P and Electronics Design experience or exposure 

-Advanced user in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio

-Excellent interpersonal and communication skills 

-Active U.S. Government Top Secret security clearance (or equivalent) clearance with a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) completed within the last 5 years along with active SCI access at time of application and prior to start date

Primary Level Salary Range: $114,000.00 - $171,000.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.

The application period for the job is estimated to be 20 days from the job posting date. However, this timeline may be shortened or extended depending on business needs and the availability of qualified candidates.
