Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Manager Systems Engineer 2 (Reliability and Fault Diagnostics Manager) to join our diverse team of professionals. This leadership position will be full time in the office and located in San Diego, CA, El Segundo, CA, or Palmdale, CA.
This role will support the Product Support EI&E (Engineering Integration and Execution) and lead the Reliability and Fault Diagnostics team and SOW (Statement of Work) execution. This role will be responsible for coordinating the priorities between multiple OU (Operating Units), ensuring high quality engineering analyses, talent development and management, driving continuous improvement initiatives, and CAM (Control Account Manager) duties for both teams. The Reliability team is responsible for analyzing/determining predicted reliability at various system levels, characterizing field failures, determine trending factors, and work with adjacent engineering functions to propose and prioritize improvement efforts. The Fault Diagnostics team is responsible for analyzing operational logs and maintenance logs to continuously improve the maintainer helping tool to optimize maintenance activity and minimize downtime.
Key Responsibilities:
Support the Product Support EI&E Director and OU Program Manager objectives
Serve as the technical authority on Reliability and Fault Diagnostics
Provide technical leadership, direction, and mentoring to engineering team members
Coordinate with other Reliability and Fault Diagnostics leaders across the company to ensure sharing and alignment of best practices
Maintain cognizance of shifting best practices, procedures, and USG guidance documents to generate opportunities and influence SOWs and ensure Northrop Grumman is a leader in the fields of Reliability and Fault Diagnostics
Coordinate with other Engineering, Field Support, and other functions as needed to ensure the teams generate high quality and technically sound analyses that drive leadership/customer action
Support SMTs (Supplier Management Teams) as necessary to address relevant technical issues with supplier systems
Formally present technical status and solutions to leadership and the customer
Act as the CAM for Reliability and Fault Diagnostics work packages as needed
Support and shape proposal activities

Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in STEM field (Science Technology Engineering Math) and at least 9 years of related experience in Reliability, PHM, and/or another related experience or 7 years with Master's Degree in STEM
Must have an active government Secret Clearance or higher clearance (with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled into Continuous Evaluation)
Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a government Top Secret Clearance, Special Access Program (SAP), and SCI clearance within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company
Willing and able to travel up to 25%
US Citizenship is a requirement for employment
Preferred Qualifications:
Current active in-scope government Top Secret Clearance with V2 special access
Experience using reliability analysis software (Reliasoft preferred)
Relevant experience in adjacent logistics support elements such as Logistics Support Analysis (LSA) & Maintenance Planning, Modeling & Simulation (ModSim), Support Equipment Engineering (SEE), Prognostics & Health Management (PHM), Supportable Low Observables (SLO), Obsolescence Management, Training & Training Systems, Technical Data, Support Hardware, Fleet & Field Support, and Product Support Management
ASQ Certified Reliability Engineer
Previous experience driving process changes/improvements and leading multi-functional teams on complex tasks, with strong communication and presentation skills
Demonstrated financial management skills including development and control of program budgets, schedules, Estimate at Complete (EAC), and the ability to recognize and capture program changes
Strong skills in Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, MS Project, and PowerPoint
Previous U.S. Military experience with operations and/or aircraft maintenance background
