Reliability Engineer

Huntsman is seeking a Reliability Engineer supporting the Advanced Materials Division located in McIntosh, AL. This position will report to the Maintenance Manager.

Job Scope

This role is responsible for establishing and maintaining a Mechanical Integrity Program to meet PSM and RMP requirements for manufacturing fixed and rotating equipment at the McIntosh site. The position focuses on ensuring equipment reliability, safety, and compliance with corporate and regulatory standards.

In summary, as the Reliability Engineer, you will:
  • Lead the inspection, maintenance, repair, and documentation of all plant equipment in accordance with site Mechanical Integrity procedures, corporate standards, and RAGAGEP.
  • Develop preventive maintenance plans and inspection and test plans for fixed, rotating, and electrical equipment and instrumentation.
  • Review equipment failures (bad actors) and apply engineering and troubleshooting skills to reduce failure frequency and determine root causes.
  • Implement changes to eliminate failures and improve mean time between maintenance intervals.
  • Review, update, and develop site maintenance procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, corporate standards, and RAGAGEP codes (ASME, API, NBIC, TEMA, etc.).
  • Ensure that monitoring, inspection, testing, and preventive maintenance work is performed safely, properly documented, and executed efficiently and on time.
  • Analyze monitoring and testing data to identify risks and initiate corrective actions before failures occur.
  • Use collected data to define appropriate monitoring and maintenance frequencies.
  • Analyze data using appropriate tools to develop and implement reliability improvement plans.
  • Propose equipment improvements to enhance safety, environmental performance, reliability, and cost efficiency.
  • Manage contractor inspector workload and scheduling for fixed equipment and piping systems.
  • Coordinate maintenance activities with planners, schedulers, operations, and site management.

Additional responsibilities:

  • Assist maintenance teams with troubleshooting as needed.
  • Set up, adjust, or replace spare parts for equipment as required.
  • Provide backup support for the Maintenance Supervisor when needed.
  • Represent the McIntosh site Reliability function within the Advanced Materials Division.
Qualifications

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.

The candidate must have an unrestricted right to work for Huntsman in the United States.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 3+ years of relevant experience in a related field.
  • One year of relevant experience may be substituted for one year of formal education (where applicable).
Skills and knowledge
  • Proficiency with Internet, email, and Microsoft Office programs.
  • Strong leadership qualities, with the ability to take ownership and make decisions in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills, including the ability to organize and analyze unstructured data.
  • Ability to translate theoretical concepts into practical field implementation and validate results.
  • Business-oriented mindset.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build networks across teams.
  • Working knowledge of Process Safety, OSHA, and EPA regulations.
  • Strong knowledge of applicable codes and standards (ASME, API).
  • Experience with SAP, LIMS, PI systems, and other engineering or data analysis tools.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and able to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Strong analytical and engineering reasoning capabilities.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization and external stakeholders.
  • Strong leadership and coordination skills across functions.
Working Environment
  • Industrial manufacturing environment supporting maintenance and reliability operations.
  • Interaction with plant equipment, inspection activities, and engineering processes.
  • Collaboration across maintenance, operations, and engineering teams.
  • Requires adherence to Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) standards.
