Reliability Engineer

SUMMARY

This position is responsible for driving improvements in maintenance costs and equipment reliability through effective reliability engineering.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

May include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Demonstrates strong safety culture through personal behavior and commitment to environmental, health & safety.
• Participates in the PACE culture of safety.
• Provide technical assistance to maintenance supervision in the repair and improvement of all process equipment.
• Develop and improve maintenance procedures for repair of equipment.
• Perform equipment failure analysis to prevent reoccurrence.
• Develop and lead PM programs such as vibration analysis, thermal imaging, lubrication analysis, etc.
• Follow equipment repair in shops to ensure timely and proper repair.
• Work with other engineers to develop maintenance procedures for equipment repair.
• Actively participate in process improvement programs such as Six Sigma, etc.
• Other duties as assigned

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering is required; EIT or PE certification a plus.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in maintenance/reliability/engineering work.
• Industrial or plant experience preferred
• Experience with various types of rotating/stationary equipment, and familiarity with corrosion mechanisms and solutions is desired.
• Ability to troubleshoot recurring problems and determine solutions.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written; aggressive problem solving ability.
• Strong work planning and organizational skills required
• Able to work independently and as a part of a team

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.  The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch.  The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Additionally, this position must make general decisions requiring judgement and perform activities requiring sustained concentration.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The noise level in the work environment is sometimes moderate when working in an office, however, some of the work may be required in the operating units which mandates usage of required PPE including safety glasses, hearing protection, etc.  May also result in exposure to outside elements and may require usage of stairs and elevators.  Travel including air travel or auto travel may occasionally be required.
