TITLE: Reliability Engineer
LOCATION: Cedar Rapids Plant
REPORTS TO: Maintenance and Reliability Manager
The Reliability Engineer will drive improvements in the performance of maintenance processes by facilitating maintenance/reliability initiatives, executing projects to improve reliability and efficiency, and providing leadership and technical direction within the maintenance function.
As a Reliability Engineer, your responsibilities will include:
- Act as single point reliability contact, providing technical direction for cross function teams at the manufacturing site
- Build strong positive relationships with diverse groups through day-to-day reliability plant support with a continuous focus on safe, reliable, and efficient operations
- Provide strong technical leadership, expertise, and advice in support of facility operations with the goal of optimizing facility reliability through the application of PM and Pd.M. programs
- Recommend maintenance/operating technologies, methodologies that improve the RE program and reliability
- Work with primary cross functional teams to identify, evaluate and implement design changes, asset strategies revisions and operating / maintenance procedure updates
- Promote a proactive approach to minimize / eliminate failures by acquiring and analyzing failure data and predicting asset reliability with a goal to reduce maintenance related production losses
- Lead efforts for plant loss mapping based on value stream mapping (details individual equipment processing rates and constraints)
- Promote the application of and facilitate root cause analysis across the facility based on our Global RCA triggers
- Develop business justifications for resolution of equipment reliability problems
- Collaborate with Engineering and Maintenance, providing technical guidance and support for new equipment commissioning
- Work with plant team to analyze loss data to identify underperforming assets
- Provide your expertise in making key decisions with respect to technology and actively participate in all aspects of our Reliability Excellence program, maintenance, and asset health across the plant
- Lead the development of technical standards database and champion the use of those standards as part of precision maintenance being executed by the plant maintenance teams
- Propose changes to inspect equipment and facility through the PM Optimizing tool
- Document technical memory methods, processes, and products
- Monitor technical expertise
- Train maintenance & reliability teams in new procedures / reliability tools when applicable
- Provide recommendations to capital improvement projects to ensure reliability and maintainability
- Build and publish weekly and monthly reports commenting on the overall trends and progress of the asset activities
- Ensure compliance to internal and external policies, procedures, and regulations and to assist external auditors such as insurance companies, and / or other groups as required.
- Responsible for repository of equipment life cycle cost data from design for reliability phase through decommissioning
- Responsible for executing specific functional (lubrication, vibration, condition monitoring, etc.) program audits
- Work with discipline engineers and maintenance teams to understand the root cause and develop the solution and then support and work with Operations, Maintenance and Engineering to implement the solution
- Apply FMEA in equipment and facilities risk assessments
- Evaluate the performance reports as part of asset management and monitor the main indicators of maintenance and reliability (KPIs)
- Develop Equipment Strategy plans that may be plant specific or across the network, with the purpose of increasing reliability and availability
The Reliability Engineer position is well-suited for you if you have:

- Experience in designing, planning and executing simple projects.
- Familiar with industry wide predictive technologies and tools including vibration, ultrasonic, thermographic and motor circuit analysis, a plus.
- Utilizing your knowledge and experience to recognize and implement opportunities for improvement.
Qualified candidates will have:

Certified Reliability Engineer or willing to attain

Experience in the reliability engineering field

Experience leading predictive and preventive maintenance programs

Proven track record of successful implementation of reliability improvement initiatives

Experience in Failure Modes and Effects Analysis and its application

Technical training and certifications MLT1, CAT I
Computer Skills and knowledge of CMMS (SAP PM), MS Excel, Vibration, Ultrasonic and Alignment equipment

Preferred qualifications:
- Technical training and certifications MLT2, CAT II, Level 1 Ultrasound
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on facilitating RCA process
- Computer Skills and knowledge of CMMS (SAP PM, Prometheus, Lube-IT), MS Excel, Vibration (Emerson Machinery Health Manager), Ultrasonic and Alignment equipment & databases
- Exposure to a food operating plant environment (ISO9001, FSSC22000) is preferred
