The current product reliability team works to improve the quality and reliability of our heavy-duty powertrain. We work closely with our partners across the entire value chain from Product Development to Aftersales to develop multifaceted solutions to complex field failures. By taking a holistic problem-solving approach, we ensure that our solutions provide superior products to our customers. This role will be responsible for leading the field quality team in problem solving complex issues with our aftertreatment system hardware, software, and fault diagnostics. This position will also be responsible for complex data analytics using tools within the Palantir Quality Management Operating System (QMOS) and other service tools such as Diagnostic Link, Virtual Technician, DDEC reports, and SISAM to aid in the problem-solving process.

Position offers a starting salary range of $90,000 – $115,000 USD

Pay offered dependent on knowledge, skills, and experience.

What You Drive at DTNA

  • Lead the field quality team (FQT) by defining focus, priorities, action plan and reporting.

  • Facilitate and drive the FQT meetings with the applicable cross-functional team members to drive the problem-solving process to support warranty reduction and improve product reliability for the customer.

  • Leverage early warranty and field data to identify high-failure-rate systems and components, applying structured, data-driven root cause analysis to resolve part- and system-level failures.

  • Analyze field warranty data with Palantir Quality Management Operating System (QMOS) to identify reliability trends for current and emerging issues.

  • Inspect failed parts to identify failure modes and cause of failure.

  • Develop testing procedures for field return parts to support failure analysis.

  • Utilize structured problem-solving methods to identify root cause and drive resolution of part and system related failures, with a major focus on a data driven approach; utilizing all available service tools.

  • Communicate technical findings and reliability strategies to senior management, program stakeholders, and end-customers.

  • Create and deliver business cases to leadership that propose product design improvements aimed at boosting customer satisfaction.

  • Work with the field service team to support customer-specific concerns.

  • Support the warranty rate planning and vendor recovery activities.

  • Support service campaigns and recall technical preparation.

  • Support the product development cycle by providing lessons learned as input to the next releases.

  • Supports the global aftertreatement systems (ATS) Module Team with collecting cross-functional input from the quality department for responses to the Integrated Change Management (ICM) tasks.

  • Collaborate with Global Quality Partners in Germany and Brazil to address field reliability concerns and drive effective problem resolution.

Knowledge You Should Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or equivalent from an accredited college/university.

  • 2+ years of related experience in automotive/manufacturing quality, reliability or a related field.

  • Deep understanding of engine and aftertreatment system components and operation fundamentals.

  • Proficient with MS Office programs (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).

  • Ability to interpret component and assembly drawings.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and data interpretation skills.

  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams through complex technical investigations.

  • High level of interpersonal skills.

  • Pronounced organization and leadership skills.

  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences and facilitate cross-functional collaboration.

  • Candidate must be able and willing to travel domestically and internationally (less than 10%).

Exceptional Candidates Might Have         

  • Exceptional skills with Online Warranty Link (OWL) and Quality Management Operating System (QMOS) tools.

  • Strong proficiency in Palantir Foundry, including application development using Quiver, Contours, and Workshop.

  • Advanced competence in Detroit service systems including Sales Force, DTNA Connect, Virtual Technician, and Common Telematics Platform (CTP).

  • Highly skilled with Detroit service tools like Diagnostic Link and DDEC Reports.

  • Familiarity with production and quality systems (PTSI, SISAM).

  • Advanced proficiency in complex problem-solving tools (8D, 5 Why, Ishikawa, Shainin, Six Sigma, etc.)

  • Demonstrated experience developing failure prediction and reliability models using Weibull analysis, regression analysis, or similar statistical techniques.
