About the role .
Are you passionate about improving asset performance and driving operational excellence? As Reliability Engineer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability, safety, and efficiency of our plant and equipment across the full asset lifecycle.
This is a hands-on, influential role for a skilled engineer who enjoys analysing data, solving complex problems, and leading others toward best-practice asset management. You will work closely with Maintenance, Production, Engineering and external partners to reduce losses, improve reliability, and embed a strong reliability culture across the site.
What you'll be doing .
- Lead the implementation of regional and global reliability strategies on site
- Coach and influence teams to adopt best-practice reliability systems and behaviours
- Analyse production and maintenance data to drive performance improvements
- Identify and eliminate losses through structured problem-solving (e.g., RCA, 5-Whys, etc.)
- Develop and report on plant performance indicators
- Proactively manage asset risk using industry-standard tools (Asset Criticality, FMEA)
- Guide asset lifecycle decisions, including condition-based maintenance and capital replacement
- Partner with project teams to ensure new assets are designed and commissioned for optimal whole-of-life performance
- Promote a safe and healthy workplace and support contractor management
What you'll need to be successful .
You are a proactive, data-driven engineer who thrives in a manufacturing environment.
Essential:
- Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, or similar)
- 3-5 years' experience in reliability engineering, ideally within FMCG
- Demonstrated ability to lead root cause analysis and implement corrective actions
- Strong knowledge of Health & Safety, GMP, and HACCP standards
- High computer literacy with the ability to analyse and interpret data
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
- Excellent prioritisation, negotiation, and influencing skills
Desirable:
- Experience in condition monitoring (vibration, lubrication, thermography, ultrasonics, etc.)
- Lean/Continuous Improvement experience (TPM, Six Sigma, MDI)
- CMMS experience (preferably SAP)
- Knowledge of relevant New Zealand Standards and regulatory requirements
- Advanced skills in Excel and Power BI
- Experience with Prometheus software
