SAIC is seeking a Reliability Engineer to support the development, verification, and certification of critical systems enabling NASA’s Low-Earth Orbit and Lunar surface missions.

In this role, you will perform reliability engineering assessments across system lifecycles, including requirements evaluation, design maturity reviews, operational concepts, early safety and reliability products, and reliability certification of mission-support systems. This position provides support through government collaboration with commercial space companies.

Job Description:

  • Reliability Engineers are expected to become fully knowledgeable of system requirements, functional architectures, mission profiles, and operational scenarios for spaceflight systems and EVA-related hardware.
  • Core responsibilities include developing and assuring reliability and risk analyses (such as FMEAs, fault trees, and reliability models), performing hazard/risk assessments, and presenting reliability positions at program boards, technical reviews, and SMA panels.
  • This role requires frequent communication with commercial space companies, NASA stakeholders, and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Reliability Engineers will function as integral members of systems engineering, safety, and mission assurance communities.

  • Basic knowledge and use of personal computers with typical business software.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are mandatory.
  • Must be able to travel (minimal) and work shifts periodically.

Desired Experience:

  • Support development of FMEAs and CILs to ensure reliable, long duration system performance.
  • Analyze data, support reliability testing, and propose improvements to enhance durability and efficiency. Bring experience with EVA or EMU hardware, ISS systems, and space operations.
  • Apply knowledge of spacesuit development, critical hardware design, and operations products.
  • Perform independent technical research and support NASA human spaceflight programs.
