IMPACT YOU’LL MAKE

Are you a procurement leader who enjoys building something from the ground up? Do you thrive at the intersection of process improvement, technology, people leadership, and enterprise transformation?

BECU is looking for a Manager, Procurement Operations to help establish and lead our centralized Buy Desk within Strategic Sourcing. This is an opportunity to shape how purchasing works across the organization, creating a more streamlined, consistent, and intuitive experience while strengthening financial controls and operational efficiency.

We're looking for someone who can think strategically, execute operationally, and bring people along through change. You'll help turn a future-state vision into a sustainable procurement function that delivers meaningful value across BECU.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Establish, launch, and lead BECU’s centralized Buy Desk within Strategic Sourcing, building a scalable procurement operating model that simplifies purchasing, strengthens controls, and improves the employee buying experience.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team responsible for procurement operations, establishing clear priorities, service standards, performance expectations, and opportunities for professional growth.
  • Design and implement standardized procurement processes, including requisition intake, purchase order management, guided buying, vendor master governance, workflow approvals, and issue resolution.
  • Oversee day-to-day purchasing operations, ensuring purchase orders align with executed vendor agreements, approved pricing, scope, contractual terms, and funding requirements.
  • Develop guided buying practices that direct purchasing activity toward preferred vendors, approved catalogs, and established contracts while reducing unnecessary vendor creation, purchasing exceptions, and operational inefficiencies.
  • Partner with Strategic Sourcing, Vendor Management, Accounts Payable, Finance, Legal, Risk, Technology, Facilities, and business leaders to resolve purchasing challenges, strengthen governance, and improve enterprise procurement processes.
  • Lead procurement transformation and change management initiatives, including workflow design, stakeholder engagement, system testing, communications, training, adoption, and ongoing process stabilization.
  • Develop and monitor procurement performance metrics, vendor and spend analytics, and operational reporting to improve purchasing visibility, identify trends, measure compliance, and uncover opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor and primary point of contact for procurement operations, balancing business needs with operational efficiency, service excellence, and enterprise controls.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

This isn’t just about ticking off tasks on a list. It's about making a significant, positive change in BECU’s journey, where your contributions are valued, and your growth is continually fostered.

WHAT YOU’LL GAIN

  • The opportunity to build and launch a centralized procurement function from the ground up, shaping how purchasing operates across one of the nation's largest credit unions.
  • The ability to influence enterprise-wide procurement transformation by designing processes, implementing new ways of working, and creating a more efficient and intuitive buying experience.
  • The opportunity to lead and develop a team while establishing the operational foundation, service standards, and performance measures of a growing procurement capability.
  • Exposure to cross-functional leaders across Strategic Sourcing, Vendor Management, Finance, Legal, Risk, Technology, and other business functions as a trusted partner in enterprise change.
  • Hands-on experience advancing procure-to-pay capabilities, guided buying, vendor governance, and procurement analytics that strengthen financial and operational controls.
  • A collaborative environment where your ideas, leadership, and process improvements will have a lasting impact on BECU’s procurement operations and long-term organizational success.
