Job Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and skilled Release Notes Writer to join our team. This individual will be responsible for creating, editing, and publishing comprehensive and clear release notes that effectively communicate product updates, new features, bug fixes, and improvements to various stakeholders, including customers, internal teams, and developers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Write and Edit Release Notes: Create user-friendly, accurate, and engaging release notes for each software/product release, ensuring consistency and clarity.
- Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: Work closely with product managers, engineers, and customer support to gather details about product updates and ensure accurate information.
- Understand Technical Concepts: Translate complex technical information into clear, concise language that is easily understood by non-technical audiences.
- Maintain Consistent Tone and Style: Ensure that all release notes adhere to brand voice, style guidelines, and tone, maintaining professionalism and clarity.
- Coordinate Timely Publication: Work with project management teams to ensure release notes are written, reviewed, and published in alignment with product releases.
- Document and Track Changes: Maintain detailed records of all changes, updates, and releases for future reference.
- Improve Existing Documentation: Regularly update existing release notes for accuracy and clarity as features evolve or additional information becomes available.
- Feedback Loop: Gather feedback from customers and internal stakeholders to continuously improve the quality and usefulness of release notes.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in technical writing, preferably with a focus on software or product release documentation.
- Strong attention to detail, with a keen ability to compare and assess the impact of changes on existing user-facing documentation.
- Familiarity with tools such as Jira, Confluence, and content management systems for tracking documentation needs and progress.
- Proficiency in MadCap Flare.
- Experience adjusting messaging, tone, and level of detail for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- A collaborative mindset and the ability to work across teams to gather and verify information.
