Overview

An amazing opportunity to optimise and uplift and the Release Management practices for a major, multi-year initiative.

The Core Modernisation project is critical to supporting the RBA’s mission of promoting the economic welfare of the Australian people through monetary and financial policies and operations. It enables the IT strategy of standardizing, simplifying, and automating the Bank’s infrastructure while minimizing risk through the introduction of a new data centre and modernised infrastructure.

Role Overview
RBA is seeking a Release Manager to drive the Release Management for the CoreMod program.

The role covers managing the planning and execution of infrastructure and application releases across various environments. It requires close collaboration with the program’s delivery managers as well as with other release managers across the RBA in order to develop, communicate and execute a release schedule for the program. It also includes effective negotiation to resolve any scheduling conflicts.

Additionally, the Release Manager will identify and implement process improvements to increase the velocity of IT change without comprising the security and stability of the Bank’s systems. The role may involve managing other release management team members.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop a comprehensive release schedule, balancing technical dependencies and business requirements.

  • Identify and manage risks and interdependencies associated with releases.

  • Coordinate releases into key environments, ensuring smooth transitions.

  • Communicate upcoming changes with stakeholder groups across the Bank.

  • Perform release readiness reviews and quality assurance checks.

  • Collaborate with technical delivery and test leads to uplift release quality.

  • Coordinate activities with external vendors and partners.

  • Align release schedules with project timelines.

  • Represent the program in forums where change windows and priorities are negotiated.

  • Keep stakeholders informed of release status and issues.

  • Facilitate communication between teams involved in the release process.

  • Continuously improve release processes for efficiency and quality.

  • Manage and run Weekend deployment activities where required.

  • Ensure compliance with IT standards and strategies.

  • Establish and operate the IT Service Management Framework.

  • Drive customer-focused behaviour and continuous service improvement across IT Services, ensuring service lifecycle integrity.

  • Support Service Management practices by administering the Service Management System.

 

Technical Capabilities

  • Proven experience in establishing and maintaining IT Service Catalogues.

  • Ability to maintain effective relationships with internal stakeholders in a large organization.

  • Advanced knowledge of IT Service Management and Incident Management based on ITIL principles.

  • Familiarity with large corporate environments with multiple locations.

  • Strong understanding of industry developments and best practices.

  • ITIL Foundation and Intermediate certifications (Capability or Lifecycle).

 

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualifications relevant to IT.

  • ITIL Foundations Certification.

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Release Management
