Job Summary
The main purpose of the job is to manage relationships in the Commercial Banking Segment, grow revenue and market share by proactively sourcing for business and selling bespoke financial products and services.
Job Description
- Responsible for providing clients with essential information and advice, enabling them to achieve their business and personal objectives by offering time saving and added value solutions and service.
- Primary responsibility for the management of own portfolio of clients ensuring that they receive the appropriate level of service and advice to meet their specified needs.
- Proactively identify and respond to servicing opportunities for own portfolio of clients, seeking to exceed agreed minimum service standards.
- Successfully manage the resolution of all non-routine queries and complaints for own portfolio of clients.
- Work closely with risk management to achieve prompt and effective lending applications.
- Build a network of contacts, driving proactive business development within the wider community, developing new business.
- Maintain a high standard of operational control including adherence to Risk Management guidelines, KYC procedures and other bank policies.
- Promote alternative delivery channels, sign-posting other internal products and services.
- Build and maintain relationships with both internal and external Stakeholders including industry bodies, key individuals, Government, and non-Government organisations.
- Represent Absa Bank of Botswana at marketing events with other role players, Private Sector, Government, and other organisations in area of responsibility.
- Manage and maintain cordial relationships with the Coverage team and all other Key Stakeholders.
- Draft and implement a Communication and Marketing Plan for specific area of responsibility to advise target audience on financial product solutioning, options for specific commodities, climatic conditions and/or Sector risk issues.
- Support other Bank colleagues by building their knowledge and understanding of bank’s products and services through the delivery of formal and ad hoc training and coaching.
- Monitor, provide feedback and support the growth of leads supplied by and to other Bank colleagues.
Education and Experience Required
Essential
- A Bachelor’s degree preferably in (Accounting, Economics, Business Administration or Finance) or equivalent qualification
- MBA, related professional qualification will be an added advantage
- 8-10 years’ experience in a similar role or experience in Finance or Financial Services/Banking sector

- An understanding of business principles, industry trends, and economic factors that influence client businesses
- Familiarity with the specific industries that the bank serves for understanding client needs and offering tailored solutions
- The ability to identify and address client problems, make sound judgements, and develop effective solutions
- Ability to manage a high volume of client interactions and tasks effectively
