The Reinsurance Manager is a strategic leader and subject matter expert responsible for overseeing reinsurance operations, driving transformation initiatives, and ensuring alignment with business objectives. This role requires advanced technical expertise, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to influence decisions across multiple teams. The position involves leading complex projects, championing automation and innovation, and providing professional advice to improve processes and services. The Reinsurance Consultant also plays a key role in compliance, risk management, and mentoring team members.
Position Responsibilities:
Strategically lead reinsurance operations across multiple portfolios, ensuring alignment with business goals.
Lead high-impact transformation initiatives and projects with moderate resource requirements and complexity.
Provide professional advice and act as a subject matter expert, influencing standards and best practices.
Interpret internal and external business challenges and recommend solutions to improve products, processes, and services.
Champion innovation, automation, and data-driven decision-making to enhance operational efficiency.
Develop and deliver advanced training programs and documentation for the reinsurance team.
Coach and mentor administrative team members to build capability and performance.
Ensure compliance with company standards, regulatory requirements, and risk management practices.
Independently identify, investigate, and explain anomalies within the broader business function.
Handle complex ad hoc tasks and analysis without supervision.
Manage time effectively across a broad scope of work and multiple priorities.
Required Qualifications:
8+ years of relevant experience.
Advanced understanding of administrative process flows and high-level procedures.
Advanced knowledge of TAI systems, treaty wording interpretation, and premium calculations.
Strong understanding of upstream and downstream processes impacting reinsurance (pricing, underwriting, in-force management).
Advanced understanding of SOX compliance and operational risk management.
Advanced accounting knowledge.
Proven ability to act as a reinsurance subject matter expert and extrapolate concepts across systems and business segments.
Demonstrated leadership in strategic projects, process improvement, and change management.
Commercial awareness and understanding of market best practices.
Advanced Excel skills, including complex formulas and data modeling.
Ability to write, execute, and debug SQL queries independently.
Experience using Visio and other process mapping tools.
Advanced understanding of IT tools and programs such as Power BI, Macros, Power Automate, Power Apps, Python.
Ability to drive adoption of new technology and lead change initiatives.
