- We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Reinsurance Operations Manager to oversee the daily operations of our reinsurance team within the Actuarial Valuation department.
- This role involves managing reinsurance calculations, supporting the coordination with external parties, and ensuring accurate and timely processing of life reinsurance treaties, facultative contracts, premium and claims transactions, and related reporting.
Preferred skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree (preferably in Finance, Insurance, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field)
- Minimum 6 years of experience in the life insurance industry, with a focus on reinsurance operations and administration, including 2 years in a supervisory role
- Comprehensive understanding of reinsurance and insurance concepts, treaties, and industry trends
- Strong knowledge of life reinsurance contracts, both treaty and facultative
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and Access
- Good knowledge of programming languages and database applications
Responsibilities
- Manage and ensure proper and accurate reinsurance calculations are performed in a timely manner
- Supervise the reinsurance administration team, providing guidance, support, and coordinating workflow
- Review and approve reinsurance data entries including premiums, claims, recoveries, and commissions
- Monitor treaty and facultative contract administration, ensuring compliance with terms and conditions
- Coordinate with underwriting, claims, finance, and actuarial teams for accurate implementation of reinsurance arrangements
- Reconcile reinsurance accounts and manage settlements with reinsurers
- Assist in the preparation of reinsurance reporting including bordereaux, ceded reinsurance reports, and audit schedules
- Identify and implement process improvements and automation opportunities
- Provide training and support to junior staff; ensure adherence to internal controls
- Support internal and external audits by providing documentation and responding to inquiries
- Communicate effectively with internal departments and external stakeholders regarding reinsurance matters
- Stay updated on industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices in life reinsurance administration
