Reinstatement Operative

Comex 2000 is currently seeking experienced and reliable Reinstatement Operative to support our telecoms delivery programme across the North West. This role is offered under the Construction Industry Scheme (CIS).

We are looking for a skilled Reinstatements Operative to carry out permanent and interim reinstatement works following telecoms excavation activities within the public highway and customer premises. You will be responsible for restoring footways, carriageways and verges to industry standards while working in accordance with current legislation, health and safety requirements and client specifications.

The ideal candidate will have experience in tarmac and asphalt reinstatement works, be comfortable working within small gangs or independently, and demonstrate a strong commitment to safety, quality and productivity.

 Your core responsibilities will include:

• Carrying out interim and permanent reinstatements to footways, carriageways and verges in accordance with NRSWA specifications.
  
• Undertaking tarmac and asphalt laying, including raking, screeding and compaction activities.
  
• Operating rollers, Stihl Saws, Wacker Plates, Trench Compactors and other associated plant and equipment while maintaining appropriate certifications.
  
• Delivering patching, white top and other highway reinstatement works to required standards.
  
• Restoring highways and public areas following excavation and repair works, ensuring all evidence, data and photographs are accurately captured using approved systems.
  
• Supporting highway, utility and telecoms reinstatement activities across multiple work locations.
  
• Working effectively within 2-man and 3-man gangs and, where required, taking responsibility for coordinating site activities.
  
• Supporting traffic management arrangements, including flagging and traffic control where required.
  
• Identifying and rectifying defects to ensure compliance with client, local authority and industry requirements.
  
• Completing all required paperwork and records, including job sheets, risk assessments, plant inspections and vehicle checks.
  
• Demonstrating strong risk assessment and hazard identification skills, with a clear focus on health and safety.
  
• Managing workloads effectively to ensure works are completed safely, efficiently and within agreed timescales.
  
• Delivering high-volume production work while maintaining quality standards and a right-first-time approach.
  
• Working to site specifications, programme requirements and client deadlines at all times.
  

• Good physical health and fitness.
  
• Proven experience in reinstatement works within telecommunications, utilities, highways or civil engineering environments.
  
• Experience in tarmac and asphalt laying, raking and screeding.
  
• Experience operating rollers and other reinstatement plant and equipment.
  
• Experience completing patching and permanent reinstatement works.
  
• Experience working on highways and utility projects.
  
• Experience working within or leading 2-man and 3-man gangs.
  
• Knowledge of traffic management, flagging and traffic control practices.
  
• Strong understanding of health and safety responsibilities and safe working practices.
  
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  
• Ability to manage workloads and maintain productivity in a high-volume operational environment.
  
• Industry-recognised Street Works qualifications.
  
• Full UK Driving Licence.
  
• NRSWA Units 1-9 (Essential).
  
• SA002a (Desirable).
