Corpay is currently looking to hire a Regulatory Compliance Officer to join our Regulatory team. This position falls under our Cross Border line of business and is located in Madrid, Spain. The Regulatory Compliance Officer will be responsible for ensuring Corpay’s Spanish branch fully complies with local regulatory obligations, including those set by the CNMV and SEPBLAC. This role will combine day-to-day compliance oversight with statutory MLRO responsibilities, ensuring robust anti-money laundering (AML) and counter-terrorist financing (CTF) frameworks are implemented and effective. Working closely with the wider global Regulatory compliance team, you will provide expert oversight of regulatory matters in Spain, advise senior stakeholders, and help embed a strong compliance culture. You will advise senior stakeholders, ensure alignment with evolving regulatory requirements, and help embed a culture of operational excellence. You will be instrumental in reviewing, standardising, and implementing compliance frameworks across recent and upcoming acquisitions and integrations. You will report directly to the Head of Compliance & Risk VP and regularly collaborate with the 3rd party regulators and internal risk, compliance and regulatory teams.

Role Responsibilities
The responsibilities of the role will include:
Regulatory Compliance
Act as the primary compliance officer for Corpay’s Spanish operations.
- Ensuring compliance with Spanish regulatory requirements, including Bank of Spain, CNMV, SEPBLAC and rules relating to MiFID II, PSD2, AML/CTF regulations, and data protection obligations (GDPR).
- Maintaining and update compliance frameworks, policies, and procedures to reflect evolving Spanish and EU regulations.
- Supporting regulatory reporting requirements, liaising directly with Spanish regulators as needed.
- Providing compliance input for Board and senior management reporting.
MLRO Responsibilities
- Serve as the appointed MLRO for Spanish Branch, ensuring compliance with Spanish AML/CTF obligations.
- Receive, investigate, and, where appropriate, file suspicious transaction reports (STRs) to SEPBLAC.
- Oversee AML/CTF monitoring systems, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
- Conducting risk assessments and ensure AML/CTF controls remain effective and proportionate.
- Acting as the point of contact for regulatory inspections and audits relating to AML/CTF.
Risk Management & Governance
- Supporting the implementation of group-wide risk and compliance frameworks at the Spanish entity level.
- Providing second-line oversight of new products, services, and client onboarding in Spain.
- Assist in due diligence processes for clients, partners, and third-party service providers.
- Delivering compliance training and awareness to Spanish employees, promoting a strong compliance culture.
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum 3-5 years of compliance and AML/CTF experience within financial services, preferably payments, FX, or related sectors.
- Strong knowledge of Spanish and EU regulatory frameworks (Bank of Spain, CNMV, SEPBLAC, PSD2, AMLD).
- Experience as an MLRO or deputy MLRO in Spain is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated ability to engage with regulators and manage inspections/audits.
- Strong understanding of institutional payments and FX flows, FX and derivatives business, including client onboarding, suitability/appropriateness, transaction monitoring and relevant MiFID conduct requirements.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Spanish and English.
- Proven ability to influence and advise senior stakeholders.
- Strong organisational and project management skills, with experience working cross-border.
