In this role, you will shape, develop, evolve, and articulate a compelling, focused strategic direction that increases the value of CHEP to customers and investors and for our employees.

This role will preferably be based in Australia and reports directly to the CFO, AMETA. Significant travel will at times be required. We offer flexible/hybrid working. Key accountabilities will include:

  • Align the priority focus areas for the business across short-, medium- and long-term time horizons
  • Shape strategy around Company investment, both organically and inorganically
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to define their strategic plans and ensure effective execution across countries/regions
  • Collaborate with the regional strategy leads to contribute to the Group strategy. Utilise your expertise to develop frameworks and processes that will enable implementation rapidly and effectively across functional, regional, and country levels
  • Raise the business’ sights to ensure we remain focused and accountable for delivering longer term goals as well as short term imperatives
  • Identify global, regional, and local internal and external trends and developments and articulate how these should inform and direct changes to strategic priorities
  • Run strategy programs and projects to assess new opportunities or identify solutions to potential threats
  • Prepare execution objectives, plans, and metrics; prepare presentation material, socialize it with key stakeholders, and present to senior leadership.

What will ensure your success:

  • Extensive experience across strategy roles in large global organisations. A mix of consulting and in-house experience would be preferable
  • Experience in working across APAC and/or Middle East/Africa with some exposure to emerging markets would be an advantage
  • Some experience in any of the following: transformation program practices, digital operations, supply chain analytics, A.I. or physical automation.
  • Effective management and leadership skills, including the ability to inspire and guide action across a diverse team
  • Experience utilizing various data sources to gain critical insights, conduct analysis and provide educated recommendations around strategic direction
  • Familiarity with digital, logistics, supply chain, manufacturing, FMCG, and Grocery Retail highly valuable
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams and managing large-scale strategic initiatives from inception to implementation, with a focus on delivering measurable results and driving operational excellence
  • Demonstrable ability to build long term, trust-based relationships across all seniorities
  • Credibility across strategic, financial, and operational discussions at C-level and Board level
  • Entrepreneurial, aspirational, and practical, with a proven record of setting and delivering challenging strategic goals in a corporate environment
  • A deep and nuanced understanding of business strategy and what it takes to develop, implement and evolve this successfully
  • Sophisticated problem-solving capabilities, including the ability to structure highly complex and ambiguous problems and find and articulate actionable and practical solutions
