JOB SUMMARY:
As the Regional Sales Manager you will be responsible for the sales in DACH area where you will drive sales growth with your team. Through the implementation of a coherent sales plan, you will increase sales and broaden Portwest’s market share in DACH. The Regional Sales Manager will be a strategic driver of sales activities across DACH. This person will lead a team of Area Sales Managers in cooperation with the 2 country managers ensuring a strategic approach to sales growth is utilised in line with the Portwest Sales Model. The Regional Sales Manager will also manage key customers + National Accounts and explore ways to develop these accounts further. It is vital they lead from the front and are successful in managing their own customers / area.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop an ambitious sales plan to maximise growth in DACH
- Lead and empower a team of area sales managers
- Develop strong product knowledge and engage in consultative selling by understanding and selling to customer needs
- Foster a high-performance culture with a remote team of sales managers as well as further developing the existing strong team spirit
- Engage in ongoing performance management to ensure consistent achievement of sales growth and associated sales KPIs by the sales team
- Build a strong sales platform and pipeline through achieving sales KPI’s such as Customer
- Nett Gain, Vitality & Custom Orders on a consistent basis in your own area + across the Country
- Travel regularly to meet with Sales Managers and complete joint customer visits to establish relationships with key customers
- Identify new areas with strong growth potential and recruit driven sales managers who can deliver this growth if applicable
- Onboard new ASMs into the team and mentor existing team members
- Directly manage & grow a selection of large / key customers in cooperation with the country managers
- Complete daily sales administration including customer visit notes, quotations & product
- Seek opportunities to onboard new large customers / National Accounts
- Report on sales results and opportunities to the Sales Director Northern Europe
- Provide coherent and concise local market analysis & feedback to HQ
REQUIREMENTS:
- 7+ years’ experience in sales management, including at least 3 years leading regional or multi-country teams.
- Proven track record of developing and executing successful sales strategies to drive growth and market share.
- Strong leadership and people management skills with experience coaching and motivating high-performing teams.
- Deep understanding of the German market, including customer dynamics, distribution channels, and key industry trends.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship-building abilities across all levels of the organization.
- Data-driven approach to decision-making with strong analytical and strategic planning capabilities.
- Fluent in German and English (both written and verbal); additional European languages a plus.
- Willingness to travel within the region as required.
