Description

Noisy Creek is a growing media company dedicated to invigorating beloved and trusted alternative media across the United States. We are a multiplatform business with digital and print media properties in a growing number of markets across the U.S. Our initial papers were The Stranger in Seattle and the Portland Mercury. We recently added Chicago’s Reader to our portfolio. Additionally, we have EverOut (an event discovery brand), a ticketing platform, and additional lines of work in podcasts and live events.

At their best, these publications are the lifeblood of civic life, culture, and politics in their communities. Noisy Creek exists to sustain and scale this model, building the most influential local media company in the country by leaning into local voices and supporting them with new and diverse revenue products.

The Opportunity

The Regional Sales Manager will lead day-to-day sales operations across our flagship Pacific Northwest markets, directly managing the account executives and sales coordinators who serve Seattle (The Stranger) and Portland (Portland Mercury). This is a hands-on, player-coach role focused on hitting revenue targets, developing a high-performing team, and selling Noisy Creek’s full portfolio of advertising, sponsorship, events, and ticketing products.

Working closely with local Publishers and reporting to the revenue leadership team, the Regional Sales Manager will set quotas, coach reps, manage the regional pipeline, and own the relationships with our most important advertisers and agency partners. The ideal candidate is equally comfortable building a sales strategy and getting in the field to close business alongside the team.

  • Lead the Seattle and Portland sales team. Manage, coach, and develop a team of account executives and sales coordinators across both markets — setting expectations, managing the sales pipeline, running one-on-one meetings, and supporting hiring and onboarding for the sales team.
  • Own regional revenue targets. Carry responsibility for advertising, sponsorship, events, and ticketing revenue across the Seattle and Portland markets, setting individual and team quotas and tracking performance against goal.
  • Drive sales strategy and execution. Build territory and account plans, prioritize high-value opportunities across digital, print, newsletter, social, and event products, and package inventory in ways that meet advertiser objectives.
  • Coach to results. Provide hands-on sales coaching — joining pitches, reviewing proposals, and helping reps advance and close deals while building repeatable, scalable sales practices.
  • Manage key relationships. Personally own and grow relationships with the region’s most important advertisers, agencies, sponsors, and ticketing partners.
  • Partner with Publishers. Collaborate closely with the Seattle and Portland Publishers on revenue priorities, local market strategy, and cross-functional initiatives spanning advertising, events, and membership.
  • Maintain forecasting and reporting. Keep the CRM current and deliver accurate, timely pipeline forecasts and revenue reporting that enable data-driven decisions.
  • Champion the products. Ensure reps are fluent in Noisy Creek’s evolving product set, rate cards, and packages, and feed market insights back to product and marketing teams.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of media, advertising, or comparable B2B sales experience, including at least 3 years managing or leading a sales team.
  • Demonstrated track record of meeting and exceeding revenue targets, with the ability to set quotas and hold a team accountable to them.
  • Strong sales coaching and people-development skills — a genuine player-coach who can both mentor reps and sell.
  • Comfort selling across a multiplatform portfolio (digital, print, newsletter, social, events, and ticketing); cross-channel and event sales experience is a plus.
  • Proficiency with CRM and sales reporting tools, and an analytical, data-driven approach to pipeline and forecasting.
  • Excellent relationship-building skills with advertisers, agencies, and partners at all levels.
  • Adaptable, entrepreneurial mindset; thrives in a dynamic, fast-moving environment and is willing to roll up sleeves in a lean organization.
  • Mission alignment: belief in the civic and cultural importance of alternative media and community-rooted journalism.
