Regional Sales Executive
Position Summary

As a Regional Sales Executive, you will manage a dynamic pipeline, engage prospective clients, and build the skills required for long‑term success in healthcare technology sales. This role reports to the Regional Sales Executive, Manager.
About the Team
The Small Group Sales team expands athenahealth’s presence by partnering with small physician practices to understand their needs and recommend the right solutions. The team collaborates closely with inside sales and customer success. They use tools such as Salesforce, Microsoft Teams, and internal enablement resources to drive results. The team is committed to continuous learning and shared success.
Essential Job Responsibilities
Manage a full-cycle sales process, including prospecting, presenting, and closing new business.
Maintain an active and accurate sales pipeline using Salesforce.
Build proficiency in athenahealth’s sales methodology through structured training and certification milestones.
Conduct virtual product demonstrations for prospective clients using Microsoft Teams.
Produce accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual forecasts aligned to assigned quota.
Partner with internal teams—including marketing, inside sales, and customer success—to generate and advance leads.
Use the online contracting process to complete deals efficiently.
Apply AI tools to enhance productivity, such as preparing outreach materials, researching prospects, or summarizing customer insights, while learning new AI capabilities as they emerge.
Additional Job Responsibilities
Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and skill‑building workshops.
Contribute feedback to improve sales processes and enablement resources.
Support cross-functional initiatives that enhance the prospect experience.
Assist with special projects as assigned.
Expected Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree preferred.
2–4 years of corporate, client-facing work experience.
1–3 years of sales experience (including inside sales, telesales, or quota-carrying roles).
Experience using CRM systems; Salesforce preferred.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain organized workflows.
Ability to understand and execute a full-cycle sales process.
Demonstrated business acumen and ability to learn quickly.
Openness to feedback and commitment to continuous learning and collaboration.
Expected Compensation
$48,000 - $82,000The base salary range shown reflects the full range for this role from minimum to maximum. At athenahealth, base pay depends on multiple factors, including job-related experience, relevant knowledge and skills, how your qualifications compare to others in similar roles, and geographical market rates. Base pay is only one part of our competitive Total Rewards package - depending on role eligibility, we offer both short and long-term incentives by way of an annual discretionary bonus plan, variable compensation plan, and equity plans.
