The Regional Safety Manager is responsible for developing, overseeing, and managing all health, safety, and new hire training initiatives. WHAT HELIOS NEEDS FROM YOU:

  • Developing and implementing safety policies, procedures, and programs to ensure compliance with OSHA and other regulations. Policies, procedures, and programs are subject to review by Director of Safey prior to implementation.
  • Oversight of regular safety inspections of equipment, machinery, and work areas to identify and resolve potential hazards. Job Hazard Analysis creation and training.
  • Training employees on safe work practices, safety programs, emergency procedures, proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and Powered Industrial Truck training.
  • Work with Operations Team to ensure Field Employee and Admin staff safety toolbox talks, ergonomics, and fleet safety discussions are held monthly.
  • Confirm Operations Team Members in field are given all PPE required as per PPE Program and acknowledgments signed prior to disbursement.
  • Work with Operations Management Team to investigate workplace accidents, incidents, and near misses to determine root causes and corrective actions.
  • Work with Fleet Director and Team to review MOTIVE Fleet database, use of database, review of fleet safety motor vehicle collisions, and corrective actions needed by Operations Team.
  • Collaborate with management and supervisors to address safety concerns daily, establish safety goals, and creation of injury and illness prevention plan quarterly (I2P2 Plan).
  • Maintaining safety records and documentation daily, such as training records, monthly safety toolbox talks and fleet safety discussions, inspection reports, incident reports and investigation, and OSHA logs.
  • Awareness of industry best practices and regulatory changes to continuously improve safety programs.
  • Establishing schedule for claims review quarterly with insurance provider with respect to Workers Compensation, Auto, Property Damage, and General Liability claims
  • Maintain an injury and incident spreadsheet and update employee work status with respect to return to work cases following injuries. Work with Operations Management and HR to determine accommodations needed or if re-employability needed through insurance provider
  • Work with Operations Management to develop a team of safety leads throughout regions
  • Participate in regulatory visits from OSHA, EPA, DHEC. Address inspector visits, visit locations, participate in inspection process, notify Director of Safety of all regulatory incidents and requests.
  • Assist Operations Management with ordering PPE supplies if needed
  • Administer and facilitate training on computer based safety infrastructure such as incident/injury databases, mass communication applications for emergencies, insurance provider databases.
  • Provide weekly safety summaries with safety metrics and incident description included to Operations Management, HR, and Director of Safety. For example, weekly hours summary, TRIR, FAIR, DART rates, per region.
  • Conduct New Hire Safety Training through the use of the safety presentation in person or virtually and train New Hires on Tech specific technology and internal processes and procedures.
  • Schedule 1:1 Meetings with Field Directors, Regional General Managers, and Director of Safety monthly
  • Other Environmental, Health, and Safety related duties as needed

WHAT SETS YOU APART:

  • Minimum 3 years of Industry Related Experience
  • OSHA 30 Certified- required
  • Valid Driver’s License and ability to use a vehicle to travel to locations
  • Minimum 2 Years experience in Safety Manager Role (Site or Regional)
  • Ability to climb ladders to heights up to 30 feet if necessary
  • Familiar with PPE and use/training requirements
  • Experience with training large groups and instructional public speaking
  • Creating safety and environmental policies, programs, and procedures as per OSHA, EPA, DHEC standards and company specific needs
  • Participating in OSHA, EPA, and DHEC regulatory inspections and site inspections (customer and company locations)
  • Safety Data Sheet Management and Use
  • Hazardous Waste Management
  • Involvement in injury reporting, accident investigations, and corrective action process
  • Experience with creating and developing Job Hazard Analysis
  • Familiar with OSHA Recordkeeping requirements, OSHA logs, and posting criteria
  • Experience with maintaining records of injuries, motor vehicle accidents, and other safety related documentation
  • Experience with calculating safety metrics (TRIR, FAIR, LTIR, DART)
  • Experience with Workers Compensation and Auto Claim Management and Mitigation
  • Fleet Safety Experience

Preferred Certifications ( Not Required):

  • 5S, LEAN, and Continuous Improvement Certifications or Training
  • Safety Leadership Training experience (Training Operation Team Leaders)
  • Powered Industrial Truck Certified and Train the Trainer Certification (Forklifts, Scissor Lifts, Aerial Lifts)
  • Experience with incident reporting software such as (Benmark/GENSUITE, Velocity EHS, etc.)
  • EPA Certifications for HVAC-R
  • Experience working with mechanical services teams and prior HVAC-R, Plumbing certifications


Helios’ compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $75,000 in our lowest geographic market up to $95,000 in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Orion’s compensation may also include annual bonus, commissions, equity, sign-on payments, as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
