Job Description

At Syngenta, we believe innovation and security go hand in hand. We are building a global OT Cybersecurity framework to protect our industrial operations and strengthen the security of our manufacturing sites around the world.

As the Regional OT Cybersecurity Lead for Latin America, you will play a strategic role in this journey, serving as the primary regional reference for cybersecurity in industrial environments. More than implementing security controls, you will act as a trusted partner to Operations, Engineering, Automation, and Technology teams, helping translate global policies into practical solutions for manufacturing sites across the region.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the regional OT Cybersecurity subject matter expert for Syngenta's manufacturing sites across Latin America.
  • Partner closely with plant managers, automation engineers, and operational teams to strengthen cybersecurity maturity within industrial environments.
  • Implement and support global OT Cybersecurity initiatives, ensuring consistency across multiple sites and business units.
  • Translate global cybersecurity policies and standards into practical and effective solutions for manufacturing operations.
  • Support risk assessments, vulnerability management activities, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Act as the key liaison between manufacturing sites, global Information Security teams, and external partners.
  • Contribute to strategic projects focused on operational security transformation and capability development.
  • Support investigations and response activities related to cybersecurity incidents affecting industrial environments when required.
  • Facilitate collaboration and communication between IT (Information Technology) and OT (Operational Technology) teams.
  • Develop, implement, and coordinate cybersecurity incident response and risk mitigation plans tailored to OT environments.
  • Monitor and maintain OT security systems, applications, and technologies, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), and SIEM solutions.
  • Support manufacturing sites in maintaining compliance with OT cybersecurity regulations, standards, and corporate requirements.
  • Develop awareness materials, deliver OT cybersecurity training programs, and collaborate with suppliers and external partners on security-related initiatives.

    Qualifications

    Required:

    • Bachelor's degree in Control and Automation Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field.
    • 5+ years of experience in Operational Technology (OT) support roles, including OT Cybersecurity.
    • Strong knowledge of IT and OT networking protocols, vulnerability and threat assessment methodologies, Purdue Model-based network segmentation, and secure network architecture.
    • Solid understanding of Industrial Control Systems (ICS), including PLCs, DCSs, SCADA components, industrial instrumentation, and fieldbus technologies.
    • Proficiency with cybersecurity technologies such as firewalls, IDS/IPS, and SIEM platforms, as well as operating systems commonly used in OT environments (Windows, Linux, and RTOS such as VxWorks).
    • Knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks and standards including NIST CSF and ISA/IEC 62443.
    • Ability to work onsite in Paulínia, São Paulo, with availability to travel up to 20% of the time to support Syngenta sites across the region.
    • Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to build relationships and influence cross-functional teams in operational environments.
    • Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts for diverse audiences.
    • Advanced English proficiency required for working within a global environment.

    Desired:

    • Experience within the chemical, agribusiness, pharmaceutical, or process manufacturing industries.
    • Experience participating in regional or global OT Cybersecurity programs and projects.
    • Knowledge of risk and vulnerability management processes within industrial environments.
    • Active OT Cybersecurity certifications such as GICSP, GRID, or similar.
    • Familiarity with Claroty, xDome, and Splunk platforms.
