Our client is an established Malaysian distributor specializing in automotive spare parts, commercial vehicle components, and industrial lubricants. With a strong distribution footprint across Malaysia, the organization services an extensive network of independent workshops, spare part stockists, transport fleets, and heavy equipment operators in the logging, palm oil, and industrial sectors.
Requirements
The Regional Manager – Sarawak will oversee the commercial performance, sales growth, and operational management of all branch locations across Sarawak (including Kuching, Sibu, Bintulu, and Miri). This role is responsible for driving revenue across passenger car motor oils (PCMO), commercial vehicle lubricants (HDDEO), auto parts, and industrial fluids while leading a regional team of sales executives, branch operations personnel, and warehouse staff.
1. Regional Sales & Revenue Growth
Drive P&L performance, sales strategies, and revenue targets across all Sarawak branch territories.
Expand market share across core channels: spare part stockists, auto repair workshops, commercial fleets (logistics, palm oil, timber), and regional sub-distributors.
Formulate and execute promotional campaigns, volume rebates, and workshop loyalty programs to drive lubricant and parts conversion.
2. Branch Operations & Credit Management
Oversee daily branch operations, ensuring optimal inventory levels, fast order fulfillment, and seamless warehouse delivery logistics across Sarawak.
Enforce strict credit control and collection policies, managing regional aging reports, debtor balances, and cash flow health.
Monitor stock rotation (FIFO), minimize slow-moving inventory, and coordinate with central procurement for stock forecasting.
3. Key Account & Channel Development
Build and maintain direct executive relationships with top-tier stockists, key fleet owners, M&E contractors, and plantation/logging machinery operators.
Identify untapped industrial lubricant opportunities in heavy machinery, palm oil mills, and marine transport sectors across Bintulu, Miri, and Sibu.
Conduct regular market visits to gather intelligence on competitor pricing, distributor activities, and market shifts.
4. Leadership & Team Management
Lead, mentor, and evaluate branch managers, sales representatives, and support personnel across Sarawak.
Set clear KPIs, sales quotas, and coverage routes for field sales teams to maximize territory coverage.
Foster a high-performance sales culture and coordinate ongoing product training in collaboration with lubricant and parts principals.
Education: Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Business, Marketing, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
Experience: Minimum 3–5 years of commercial B2B sales experience in the automotive aftermarket, replacement parts, or lubricants sector, with at least 1-2 years in a regional/branch management capacity.
Territory Knowledge: Deep understanding of the Sarawak commercial landscape, established relationships with local spare part stockists, workshop networks, and commercial fleet operators.
Product Expertise: Strong technical knowledge of automotive lubricants (engine oils, gear oils, hydraulic fluids) and replacement components (filters, brake systems, suspension, engine parts).
Commercial Acumen: Solid track record in budget control, P&L oversight, credit risk assessment, and debtor collection.
Travel: Must possess a valid driving license and be willing to travel regularly across Kuching, Sibu, Bintulu, and Miri.
Languages: Professional fluency in English and Bahasa Malaysia; ability to speak Mandarin or local dialects (e.g., Hokkien/Iban) is an added advantage for local trade relationships.
