Position Responsibilities may include, but not limited to
- Achieve annual metrics for Recordable Incident Rate, Lost Time Incident Rate, and Incident Severity Rate
- Develop and implement a multi-state DOT Compliance Program
- Support site management and field EHS in the implementation of EHS plans
- Develop and implement audits to track and identify opportunities
- Support and oversee the incident investigation process, including root cause analysis and identification of corrective action plans
- Interface with regulatory bodies (OSHA, DOT, EPA)
- Facilitate the completion of a company-wide annual EHS training plan
- Ensure safety record keeping and data integrity and provides Operations with accurate reporting and metrics to support business safety initiatives
- Manage and mentor the Safety Manager and Safety Specialists in assigned region
Required Skills and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 10+ years’ of increasing responsibilities in Environmental, Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Health and/or Safety experience in a manufacturing environment
- Experience implementing lean principles and process improvement in an operational environment
- Understanding of local, state, and federal OSHA, DOT, and EPA rules and regulations
- Ability to work in a fast paced, ever changing environment
- Team player with the ability to create strong working relationships
- Strong computer skills and proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Internet Explorer, etc.)
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence positive outcomes
- Collaboration and partnering with stakeholders in decision making
- Strong initiative, good problem solving skills, and analytical skills
- Ability to demonstrate a high-level of care and concern toward all team members
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Occupational Health, Industrial Hygiene, Safety Engineering or another related field
Physical Requirements
- Repetitive motions that include the wrists, hands and/or fingers
- Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting, remaining in a stationary position for prolonged periods
- Visual perception to perform job including peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
