Our mission

We're making Africa the first cashless continent.

In 2017, over half the population in Sub-Saharan Africa had no bank account. That's for good reason—the fees are too high, the closest branch can be miles away, and nobody takes cards. Without access to financial institutions, people are forced to keep their savings under the mattress. Small business owners rely on lenders who charge extortionate rates. Parents spend hours waiting in line to pay school fees in cash.

We're solving this by building financial services that just work: no account fees, instantly available, and accepted everywhere. In places where electricity, water and roads don't always work, you can still send money with Wave. In 2017, we launched a mobile app in Senegal for cash deposit, withdrawal, and peer-to-peer and business payments. Now, we have millions of users across 9 countries and are growing fast.

Our goal is to make Africa the first cashless continent and that's where you come in...

How you'll help us achieve it

To support our continued expansion, we are hiring for Regional Leads across our operating countries. This role is critical to scaling both our agent network and our active user base sustainably.

You will own end-to-end regional execution, including agent acquisition and management, field-based distribution, user growth and retention, and operational excellence on the ground. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who thrives in the field, uses data to guide decisions, and knows how to build, motivate, and scale high-performing teams.

In this role, you'll;

  • Own regional agent network expansion/user growth, ensuring both strong agent coverage and sustained active usage of Wave products.
  • Lead and manage field-based teams responsible for agent acquisition, distribution, and on-the-ground execution.
  • Ensure agents are recruited, contracted, trained, activated, and compliant, including KYC and AML/CTF requirements.
  • Drive user acquisition and retention through agent-led and field-distribution channels.
  • Monitor performance against targets, using data to identify risks, unblock issues, and continuously improve results.
  • Coordinate agent liquidity management to maintain reliable cash and e-value availability.
  • Manage the agent lifecycle, including performance improvement, churn, closures, and asset recovery.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to deliver operational excellence, compliance, and high-quality customer experience.
Key details
  • Location: Must be located in one of our operating countries (Burkina Faso, Mali, Niger, Senegal, Côte d'Ivoire, Gambia, Sierra Leone, etc.)
  • Our salaries are competitive and calculated using a transparent formula.
  • We offer generous health insurance for yourself and your dependents.
  • We support working parents - we offer 26 weeks of parental leave for mothers and 4 weeks for fathers, in addition to subsidized child care when they return to work.
  • Airtime reimbursement.
  • Free food and a beautiful office space.
Requirements
  • Fluent in English - this role will interact regularly with non-French speakers.
  • Master’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Speak both French and English fluently.
  • At least 5 years of relevant work experience, specifically managing an agent network / User acquisition, and a minimum of 3 years of experience managing field-based teams.
  • Strong analytical skills and comfort working with Google Sheets and operational tools.
  • Background in telecom, financial services, payments, FMCG, or similar high-scale field operations preferred.
You might be a good fit if you
  • Communicate clearly, frequently, and proactively in writing and in person.
  • Are highly detail-oriented while still able to think strategically.
  • Take ownership and move fast, knowing when to escalate risks.
  • Enjoy building and leading strong teams against ambitious targets.
  • Adaptable, resilient, and comfortable with changing priorities.
  • Deeply user-centric, always thinking from the customer’s perspective.

What We Do

We're making Africa the first cashless continent. In 2017, nearly 60% of adults in sub-Saharan Africa had no bank account. That's for good reason—the fees are too high, the closest branch can be miles away, and nobody takes cards. Without access to financial institutions, people are forced to keep their savings under the mattress. Small business owners rely on lenders who charge extortionate rates. In places where electricity, water and roads don't always work, you can still send money with Wave. In November 2017, we launched a mobile app in Senegal for cash deposit, withdrawal, and peer-to-peer and business payments. In 2019, we expanded to Cote D'Ivoire. Now, we have millions of users and are growing fast. Our goal is to drive financial inclusion and make Africa the first cashless continent
