Job Summary:Lead the implementation of the Health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSSE) Management System across the Region. Work with Operations to manage the hazards and risks associated with new and existing business operations through the establishment of regional/local policies, procedures and programs, implementation and effectiveness measures. Collaborate with the Global HSSE Team to manage hazards and risks associated with business operations, where corporate control measures may be necessary.
Promote and instill a culture that reflects the organization’s commitment to health, safety and environment.
Work collaboratively with the team to design and develop the global HSSE Management System
Lead and direct the implementation and maintenance of the HSSE Management System across the region and provide support globally, where required
Review and establish corrective actions to address results of audits, inspections and evaluations including internal, external, and compliance findings
Periodically report on the status of the HSSE program including regional HSSE statistics, initiatives, corrective actions and recommendations for improvements
Provide direction and guidance for HSSE resources at the regional/site and operational level
Direct efforts to communicate to all employees and stakeholders and to promote the understanding of HSSE issues, laws and regulations, and consequences of non-compliance
Interact with in-house and external legal counsel to address HSSE-related issues
Recommend and oversee corrective action plans, as necessary to address legal noncompliance and internal nonconformance
Ensure that incidents and subsequent investigations are thoroughly addressed and corrective actions implemented to prevent recurrence
Develop global/regional communications to share lessons learned and to promote HSSE awareness
Ensure records, reports, investigations, findings and resolutions are documented in a manner that meets due diligence requirements
Lead all matters relating to HSSE for the region and support globally, when required.
Interpret HSSE legislation and prepare recommendations to achieve compliance across the region and identifies best practice opportunities for consideration
Advise and inform on HSSE risks associated with new and existing business activities
Provide guidance and direction on the management of hazard identification/risk assessment, incidents, corrective/preventive actions across the region and on a global basis
Prepare, deliver and/or coordinate training to meet global and regional HSSE requirements
Advise and coach the Regional Management Team on their HSSE obligations
Act as the primary contact with external HSSE organizations, regulatory bodies and consultants for the Region
Travel to internal and external venues to facilitate/oversee HSSE management systems
