Job Description

Are you passionate about creating a safe and secure environment where people can thrive? Do you have a knack for turning complex regulations into practical, effective solutions? We're looking for a Health, Safety & Security (HSS) Specialist to be a guardian of well-being across our Americas offices. In this role, you’ll be a crucial part of our global team, ensuring our people and our business are protected and resilient.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Be the HSS Authority: You’ll be the go-to expert for all things Health, Safety, and Security in our Americas offices, from Austin to New York to São Paulo. You’ll develop and implement programs that not only meet but exceed local regulations, making safety an integral part of our culture.

  • Innovate and Implement: You won’t just react to problems; you’ll proactively build and manage programs that reduce risks, prevent incidents, and promote a healthy workplace. From conducting risk assessments to supporting office expansions, your guidance will be critical.

  • Protect and Respond: You’ll act as a core member of our Workplace Incident Management Team, ready to respond to crises and emergencies. Whether it's a small-scale issue or a larger-scale emergency, you’ll provide the specialized support needed to ensure our colleagues' safety.

  • Collaborate and Educate: You'll work closely with managers and teams across the region, providing training and technical expertise. You’ll be responsible for maintaining on-site fire marshall and first-aid programs. You’ll also be a key partner to our global Head of Workplace Risk and Compliance and Americas Workplace Lead, helping to shape and implement HSS policies worldwide.

  • Grow Our Impact: You’ll help us track HSS performance and contribute to our sustainability and ESG initiatives. Your work will not only keep our people safe but also strengthen our commitment to a responsible and sustainable future.

Qualifications

What You'll Need:

  • HSS Expertise: You must be a properly registered and certified Occupational Safety Technician with at least five years of experience in an HSS role across multiple international locations. You must be registered with the federal government’s SIRPWEB system that meets the requirements of Regulatory Standard Four (NR-4) of the Ministry of Labor and Employment.

  • Global Mindset: You have a strong working knowledge of HSS laws and regulations across the Americas and are comfortable with regular domestic and international travel, sometimes on short notice.

  • Crisis Experience: You have hands-on experience in crisis and emergency management, with the ability to provide calm, effective support in high-pressure situations.

  • Proactive and Self-Starting: You’re a natural problem-solver who takes initiative and doesn't need to be told what to do.

  • Excellent Communicator: You’re fluent in English and Portuguese and can clearly and effectively communicate complex information to a wide range of audiences.

Additional Information

Bonus Points If You Have:

  • Professional certifications in Occupational Safety, Health, or Security

  • First Aid certification.

  • Knowledge of international HSS standards.

  • Workplace Operational Experience

Ready to take on this challenge and help us build a safer, more resilient workplace?

What We Do

We’re making a positive, irreversible change in the world of finance. Together.

People on every continent around the world are choosing Wise to help them live, travel and work internationally. We’re the fairest, easiest way to send money overseas.

Built by and for people who live global lives, we make sending money abroad up to 8 times cheaper than the bank. This is money without borders - instant, convenient, transparent and eventually free.

For our customers, using Wise is as simple as sending money from A to B, but behind our app and website is a complex engine of currencies and routes, that’s being designed, built and powered by our talented teams in cities around the world.

We’re just at the beginning of our story and we’re growing at an incredible pace. We won’t stop until anyone, anywhere can send, spend and receive money wherever they are, whatever they’re doing. There’s still heaps to do and we can’t do it alone.

Why Work With Us

We are a mission-driven company, looking to change banking for the better. Current banking systems don’t let us send, spend or receive money across borders easily. Or quickly. Or cheaply. So, we’re building a new one. If you're looking for an autonomous work environment, where you'll face cool challenges, learn and grow, you'll like working at Wise
