Senior Manager,  EHS

 

Position Summary

This position will be responsible to review, evaluate, and analyze work environments and assist in the design of programs and procedures to control, eliminate, and prevent injury caused by physical, chemical, or ergonomic factors. The position is responsible for managing environmental programs and activities for multiple facilities . The EHS Manager assures compliance with all federal, state, and local environmental regulations by monitoring all regulatory requirements of all environmental permits issued to the facilities. 

 

Principle Responsibilities

  • Perform a variety of metal bonding assembly operations including cleaning, degreasing, braze processing, furnace heat-treating, inspecting, hand-finishing, packing, etc., in order to produce a variety of components to quality bonding requirements, working in accordance with company/customer specifications.
  • Assess and evaluate plant conditions for compliance, conduct or manage inspections and enforce adherence to laws and regulations governing environment, health and safety.
  • Successful candidates will possess the ability to work with individuals from varied backgrounds, skills, and education levels to complete projects in an efficient and organized manner.
  • Manage employee injuries and illnesses and workers compensation program
  • Perform field audits of all personal protective equipment in use in the facilities.
  • Ensure completion of routine inspections of safety equipment as required (i.e Emergency eye-washes/showers, fire extinguishers, etc).
  • Work with supervision to develop and implement Job Safety Analysis for each job.
  • Take regular noise level readings in plant areas as required.
  • Inspect and maintain a log of all emergency response equipment and operational status.
  • Assist with reports and statistical analysis of EHS data for corporate review.
  • Conduct ergonomic assessments and implement corrective measures to reduce ergonomic injuries 
  • Conduct new-hire employee safety orientation 
  • Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action planning and execution.
  • Maintain and work within department budget.
  • Support plant financial objectives.
  • Conduct mandated employee environment, health and safety training programs as required, such as Hazard Communication, Lock Out/Tagout, Confined Space Entry, RCRA, Storm Water, Cranes and Hoists, Powered Industrial Trucks, and Personal Protective Equipment 
  • Assist in the investigation of employee complaints related to health and safety 
  • Provide assistance to the engineering team for new manufacturing process, construction, demolition and renovation activities.
  • Review and approve sampling procedures, records, and data prior to sample submittal.
  • Receive, approve and interpret Industrial Hygiene results 
  • Ensure that industrial operations are in compliance with local, state and federal environmental regulations.
  • Interact with all Federal, State and Local agencies to assure ongoing compliance as well as compliance of any process changes or the addition of new processes.
  • Keep current on all new environmental regulations which impact the facilities
  • Interact with all agencies to maintain positive relations and ensure all regulatory reports are completed correctly and submitted on time.
  • Keep up with all required database and log sheets and ensure they are completed correctly and filed using a trackable system.
  • Assurance that all fees, fines and permitting are kept current.
  • Update Environmental procedures in line with changing permits and regulations
  • Managing EHS records to ensure proper access and retention of EHS records is maintained

 

Qualification Requirements

Credentials/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in EHS or Engineering
  • 7+ years of experience in EHS within a manufacturing environment

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong knowledge of EHS regulations, standards, and best practices
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to think creatively and strategically to identify and mitigate EHS risks

Skills Required

  • Bachelor's degree in EHS or Engineering
  • 7+ years of EHS experience within a manufacturing environment
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local EHS regulations and permit management
  • Experience managing workers' compensation and employee injury/illness programs
  • Experience conducting industrial hygiene sampling, noise readings, and interpreting results
  • Ability to lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective actions
  • Experience conducting ergonomic assessments and implementing corrective measures
  • Experience delivering mandated EHS training (Hazard Communication, Lockout/Tagout, Confined Space, RCRA, Storm Water, Cranes and Hoists, Powered Industrial Trucks, PPE)
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work with diverse teams and support plant financial objectives and departmental budgets
