Success in this role means increasing occupancy across the portfolio, building and maintaining strong referral pipelines from hospitals and acute care partners, hiring and leading effective marketing liaisons, and executing targeted outreach strategies to drive admissions. This position reports directly to executive leadership and plays a critical role in overall facility performance and growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute a regional census growth strategy across six skilled nursing facilities in Maryland, with a focus on increasing occupancy, improving payer mix, and stabilizing admissions flow.
  • Build and maintain strong referral relationships with hospitals, case managers, discharge planners, physicians, and social workers across Baltimore City and surrounding Maryland markets.
  • Identify and pursue new referral sources and admission channels to drive consistent patient flow into all facilities.
  • Hire, train, and manage a team of marketing liaisons / business development representatives responsible for hospital outreach and referral development.
  • Strengthen hospital discharge partnerships through consistent in-person engagement, relationship building, and responsiveness to referral needs.
  • Work closely with facility administrators and clinical teams to ensure smooth admissions processes and high acceptance rates.
  • Lead targeted marketing and outreach efforts within Maryland healthcare networks to increase awareness and preference for the facilities.
  • Monitor census trends, referral patterns, and competitor activity to adjust strategy and improve performance across each location.
  • Travel regularly between Baltimore City facilities and suburban/northern Maryland locations (all within reasonable driving distance).
Qualifications
  • 8+ years of experience in business development, admissions, census management, or marketing leadership within skilled nursing, long-term care, or post-acute healthcare.
  • Strong, established network within the Maryland healthcare market, particularly with hospitals, SNFs, and referral sources in Baltimore and surrounding counties.
  • Proven track record of driving census growth and improving occupancy in skilled nursing or long-term care facilities.
  • Experience hiring, training, and managing hospital liaisons, marketers, or admissions teams.
  • Strong understanding of hospital discharge processes, post-acute care pathways, and payer mix dynamics (Medicare, Medicaid, managed care).
  • Demonstrated ability to build trust-based relationships with hospital leadership and clinical referral teams.
  • Highly organized, field-based operator who is comfortable traveling across multiple facilities and markets within a region.
  • Strong communication, relationship-building, and execution skills with a results-driven mindset.
Compensation

Base salary range of $150,000 – $200,000 annually, depending on experience, plus performance-based bonuses tied to census growth, admissions volume, and overall regional performance. This is a high-impact leadership role for someone who can directly drive occupancy and growth across a multi-facility skilled nursing portfolio in Maryland.
