General Description:
The Regional Controller will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining accounting principles, best practices, and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements. This position oversees the accounting function for the regional sites located in BC and AB and is accountable for all financial reporting and operational accounting support.
Responsibilities:
- Manage all accounting activities within regional sites to ensure financial information is accurate, timely, and supported by strong internal controls in accordance with ASPE or U.S. GAAP, as applicable.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the administrative and accounting team (8 direct and indirect reports), including AP, AR, payroll, and senior accounting staff.
- Develop and reconcile monthly site volume flows for inbound, in-process and outbound rubber.
- Manage the revenue cycle to ensure accurate and timely billing, revenue recognition, and collections.
- Review and ensure that purchase orders are issued in a timely manner.
- Oversee general ledger and journal entry postings.
- Verify inventory levels and ensure accurate valuation and reporting.
- Generate capital project requests and provide supporting financial analysis.
- Review monthly operating financial reports and prepare variance analyses against budget, forecast, and prior year.
- Prepare the annual budgets for regional sites.
- Support internal and external audit processes.
- Provide operations analysis and recommend improvements to site General Managers, Regional Vice President and Area Finance Director.
- Ensure strong internal controls are implemented and maintained across all regional locations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Commerce from accredited institution.
- CPA designation preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of accounting experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment preferred.
- Experience with MAS 500 or other Sage ERP platforms preferred.
- Experience with data analytics tools, ERP integrations, and process automation is an asset.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including strong Excel skills.
- Must be able to travel up to 25% of the time to Alberta site.
