As a Regional Clinical Director, you will provide oversight and leadership for all Clinical Directors and clinical programs across the Richmond, Newport News, and Roanoke regions. This role is responsible for maintaining high clinical standards by supporting facility leadership with guidance, training, assessment, supervision, and feedback to ensure excellence in care delivery and compliance across all programs.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate behavioral science or mental health discipline
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in alcohol and drug addiction treatment, including individual and group counseling, treatment planning, and case management
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience supervising and/or managing clinical services within a substance use disorder program and clinical team
  • Clinical orientation compatible with substance use disorder treatment and the twelve-step philosophy
  • Active, unrestricted licensure in the state of Virginia as one of the following:
    • Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)
    • Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC)
    • Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT)
  • Valid driver’s license in good standing and ability to meet insurance requirements
  • Ability to travel throughout the region as needed for site visits, meetings, trainings, and supervision
  • Overnight travel may be required

Responsibilities

  • Ensure regional compliance with CARF standards and all applicable state and federal regulations, including confidentiality requirements
  • Participate in interviewing and selection of clinical leadership candidates and help set role expectations during the hiring process
  • Support onboarding and training of newly hired or promoted Clinical Directors and assess leadership competencies within the first 90 days
  • Provide ongoing coaching, development, and performance support to facility Clinical Directors
  • Deliver individual and group supervision, including observed supervision, for clinical leadership across the region
  • Assist with providing ongoing clinical training to regional clinical teams as needed
  • Monitor and reinforce regional workflow expectations, including scheduling, documentation standards, treatment planning, counseling compliance, and quality assurance
  • Partner with Executive Directors to address and document performance issues related to clinical leadership when needed
  • Review and support facility programming and curriculum to ensure alignment with patient needs and evidence-based practices
  • Assist Clinical Directors in maintaining clinical documentation quality, accuracy, timeliness, and medical necessity standards
  • Support or co-facilitate clinical meetings addressing patient progress, behavioral concerns, and crisis intervention when necessary
  • Provide clinical and/or licensure supervision to counselors in the absence of a facility Clinical Director, as required
  • Contribute to annual performance evaluations and probationary reviews for clinical leadership
  • Ensure timely follow-up and resolution of clinical incident reports and associated risk factors
  • Maintain direct and ongoing communication with Executive Directors and administrative leadership regarding clinical operations and concerns
  • Attend required meetings and complete all training in a timely manner
  • Perform other duties as assigned
