You are an aspiring or experienced leader who has the motivation and ability to develop, influence, train and lead others!  You possess the knowledge of ASAM criteria and corresponding levels of care as well as the biopsychosocial characteristics and other comorbid behaviors of substance use disorder and/or mental illness.  You possess considerable knowledge of individual and group behavior and the effective ways of working with people based on client-centered principles and Motivational Interviewing strategies to facilitate long-term recovery.  


What You'll Do At Gaudenzia

Clinical Leadership & Oversight

  • Provide regional clinical leadership for behavioral health and substance use disorder programs across various ASAM Levels of Care (e.g., 0.5–3.7).
  • Ensure treatment practices are trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and grounded in evidence-based models (e.g., CBT, DBT, MI, MAT integration).
  • Assist Chief Clinical Officer with the implementation of new programming initiatives.
  • Conduct clinical audits, chart reviews, and ASAM-aligned utilization reviews to ensure appropriate level of care placement and continuing stay decisions.
  • Oversee treatment planning, assessment quality, clinical documentation, and care coordination practices.

Program & Quality Management

  • Monitor regional performance metrics including treatment engagement, retention, outcomes, incident trends, and quality indicators.
  • Lead quality improvement initiatives, corrective action plans, and implementation of best-practice standards.
  • Ensure programs maintain readiness for state, federal, payer, and accreditation reviews (e.g., Joint Commission, CARF).
  • Support integration of medical, psychiatric, and clinical services within a holistic care model.

Staff Leadership & Development

  • Provide supervision, coaching, and leadership for regional Program Directors, Clinical Supervisors, and licensed clinicians.
  • Oversee clinical staffing models, caseload distribution, scheduling, and recruitment needs across sites.
  • Facilitate onboarding, clinical competency development, and staff training.
  • Lead regular clinical meetings, case consultations, and professional development sessions.

Regulatory, Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensure compliance with state behavioral health licensing requirements, payer standards, and federal regulations including HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2.
  • Oversee incident reporting, safety practices, and risk-mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure consistent interpretation and application of clinical policies across programs.

Client-Centered Care Coordination

  • Promote a person-centered, recovery-oriented approach to treatment.
  • Ensure coordination between clinical, medical, psychiatric, and community supports for seamless transitions of care.
  • Support integration of peer support, family engagement, and recovery resources into treatment pathways.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Serve as the primary clinical liaison between regional programs and executive leadership.
  • Collaborate with operational leaders to ensure alignment between clinical and administrative processes.

Build relationships with referral partners, payers, community agencies, and regulatory bodies.


Qualifications for this Role:


Maryland Education/ Licensure Requirements:


Education & Experience: 

  • Master’s degree or Doctorate in a behavioral health field required. Independent clinical licensure (LCSW, LPC, LMFT, LCPC, LMHC, Psychologist, RN/NP).
  • 5–7+ years of clinical leadership experience in behavioral health or SUD services.
  • Experience with ASAM Criteria and multi-site oversight preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in behavioral health, with at least 3 years in program oversight, quality improvement, or clinical training.
  • Demonstrated experience implementing evidence-based practices and fidelity monitoring.
  • Proven ability to design and deliver clinical and recovery-oriented trainings.
  • Strong interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Experience in research collaboration and/or program evaluation preferred.

Pay Range

$120-140k annually

Skills Required
