The Referral Specialist is responsible for managing patient referrals to ensure timely and efficient access to appropriate healthcare services. This role involves coordinating with healthcare providers, maintaining accurate referral records, and providing excellent customer service to patients. The Referral Specialist plays a crucial part in facilitating patient care and ensuring smooth communication between all parties involved.

- Process and manage patient referrals to and from healthcare professionals (including medical, dental and behavioral health) to specialists and other service providers.
- Communicate with patients to inform them of referral details, appointment schedules, and any necessary preparations.
- Act as a liaison between Vivent Health and external healthcare providers to ensure timely and accurate exchange of referral information.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all referrals, including patient information, appointment dates, and follow-up actions.
- Obtain necessary authorizations from insurance companies and ensure all referrals comply with insurance requirements.
- Coordinate and schedule appointments for patients with specialists and other healthcare services.
- Monitor the status of referrals and follow up with patients and providers to ensure completion of referred services.
- Address and resolve any issues or delays in the referral process, escalating concerns to appropriate personnel as needed.
- Input and update patient referral information into electronic health records (EHR) and other relevant systems accurately.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Adhere to all agency policies, including Confidentiality, Employee Handbook, Health Care Corporate Compliance Plan, Standards of Conduct, and other relevant policies.

KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
Required and preferred knowledge and experiences to succeed.
- Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Associate degree in healthcare administration, medical assisting, or a related field is preferred
- Work Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in a referral coordination or administrative role.
- Technical Experience:
- Proficient in Microsoft Suite.
- Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems and medical terminology is highly desirable.
- Soft Skills:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with patients, providers, and healthcare team members.
- Strong customer service skills with a patient-centered approach and the ability to handle inquiries and concerns professionally.
- Exceptional organizational skills to manage multiple referrals and tasks simultaneously and maintain accurate records.
- High attention to detail to ensure accuracy in referral processing and documentation.
- Ability to identify issues in the referral process and implement solutions effectively and efficiently.
- Strong time management skills to prioritize tasks and ensure timely completion of referrals and follow-ups.
- Ability to work collaboratively with healthcare providers, administrative staff, and external partners to facilitate patient care.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing referral processes, policies, and healthcare environments.
- Compassion and empathy when dealing with patients and their families, ensuring a supportive and understanding approach.
- Strong understanding of and commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and complying with HIPAA regulations

Pay Rate:
Starting at $24.00/hourly (Depending on Experience)
The final salary will be determined based on factors such as market data, internal equity, candidate experience and qualifications. Please note that it is uncommon for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range.
