Pay Range

$17.25 – $22.50 per hour 

The compensation range listed above represents the good-faith range Pines Health Services anticipates relying upon when making an offer for this position. Starting pay is determined based on factors including, but not limited to, experience, education, certifications, internal equity, and market conditions.

Pines has an immediate opening for a Referral Coordinator at our Caribou Health Center.

Qualified candidates must demonstrate a strong commitment to our vision, mission, and goals while providing exceptional patient support. The ideal applicant is computer-proficient, communicates clearly both verbally and in writing, listens attentively, solves problems effectively, and can prioritize tasks while working both independently and professionally.

Previous healthcare experience is preferred — but we are happy to train the right person.  We encourage LPNs (Licensed Practical Nurses) and Medical Assistants with hands-on clinical practice to apply for this position. Preference will be given to candidates with strong clinical experience in healthcare. 

Essential Functions:

  1. Schedules all patient-physician referrals and most Radiology tests that require appointments/Insurance authorizations and notifies patients of the appointment dates.
  2. Processes all insurance referrals for most providers at Pines Health Services.
  3. Processes insurance appeals.
  4. Receives all phone calls regarding patient referrals in a courteous, accurate, and friendly manner.
  5. Completes paperwork for physician approval.
  6. Mail, fax, and electronically send appropriate paperwork to the referring physician’s office.
  7. Mail, fax, transmit, or call in referrals to the insurance company.
  8. Ensure all testing requisitions are faxed to the appropriate testing facility.
  9. Maintains appropriate physician and insurance log for each carrier.
  10. Maintains pending results and follow-up.

Additional Functions:

  1. May be required to fill in for or assist other staff members; therefore, must be familiar with the basic duties of their job.
  2. Photocopies and scans as required.
  3. Participates in all safety programs, which may include assignment to an emergency response team
  4. Perform all other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

Availability Requirements:

Monday through Friday work schedule; occasional overtime as authorized.

Education and Experience

Education:

High school or G.E.D. equivalent.
