Responsibilities:

  1. Responsible for obtaining all PA and referral/order authorizations for appointment
  2. Responsible for obtaining referrals to local hospitals and private physicians.  Required to perform referral/PT1 form duties as needed.
  3. Responsible for scheduling patient appointments, solving scheduling problems, issues and/or concerns within limits of own position. Ensure patients are contacted via phone and mail.
  4. Responsible for closing the loop on pending referrals.
  5. Ensures all pertinent data pertaining to specialists’ appointments and diagnostic imaging is sent to the appropriate office with the referral/order for imaging.
  6. Confirms that patients are receiving their appointment and other related information in a timely and confidential manner.
  7. Ensures that all patients are contacted via telephone, and mail, to communicate appointment information.
  8. Serves at patient advocate.  Defend and preserve the right of patients pertaining to all aspects of their care, knowledge and privacy.
  9. Demonstrate flexibility when responding to change.  Assumes accountability for all actions.  Responds appropriately to facility acuity and activity by assisting to peers, patients, and staff as needed.

Qualifications
  1. High school diploma or equivalent. 1-2 year business/vocational training or 3-5 years equivalent experience required.
  2. Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  3. Basic computer knowledge. Ability to type 45-55 words per minute.
  4. Bilingual or trilingual preferred.
  5. Previous medical background including good understanding of medical terminology.
  6. Experience with referrals preferred.
  7. Has knowledge to proficiently use the electronic health record. 

Skills Required
