Purpose of this Position
This position supports the reliability, efficiency, and safety of machinery and industrial equipment at the Prince Rupert Terminal, through expert installation, maintenance and repair.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnosing mechanical issues, performing precision alignments, and mechanical solutions
- Enhancing operational productivity through expert installation, maintenance and repair of machinery and industrial equipment
- Promoting industry standards and safe working in line with DP World Policies
General Accountabilities
- Promote and demonstrate positive behaviours in harmony with DP World’s Our Principles.
- Establish effective leadership and participation in the HSEMS through demonstration and display of safety behaviours.
- Actively communicate the HSEMS requirements with shift managers, foreman, contractors, and workers.
- Participate in the review and development of materials and documentations in the HSEMS.
- Work in accordance with the Security Management System, including the immediate reporting of any suspicious activities to senior management and/or the Security Officer.
- Understand the consequences related to inappropriate conduct or behaviour or disregard for safety and security programs, policies and procedures.
- Ensure workers under your direction are properly trained and educated to perform their duties.
- Ensure that operations comply with both the law and the HSEMS.
- Conduct regular inspections of the workplace and correct unsafe conditions and behaviours.
- Ensure that personnel under your direction have a clear understanding of the discipline policy for dealing with consequences of inappropriate conduct or behaviour.
- Ensure that the highest levels of safety are applied in all activities.
- Understand and adhere to DP World’s Code of Conduct and Ethics policies.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Capabilities, Job Function, Technical Knowledge and Skill
- Must hold a valid Red Seal Millwright certification
- Able to identify possible safety hazards that may be encountered on the job site and describe corrective actions required.
- Must have valid certifications capable of working at heights
- Good troubleshooting skills and ability to read and interpret schematics and manuals.
- Good knowledge of lubrication types, systems, and requirements.
- Good knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems, Valves, and actuators
- Good understanding of Preventive, Predictive, and Corrective Maintenance system including detailed reporting
- Understanding of the mechanical components of automated and robotics equipment, including Fire Protection System
- Good communication skills
- Willing to be Trained in the operation and maintenance of Quay Cranes, Rubber Tire Gantry, Aerial Lifts, Forklifts, Tractors, and other mobile equipment.
- Able to lift, carry, move, and transport up to 50 lbs.
- Able to ride compact elevators as necessary
- Able to provide detailed reports on completed tasks
- Able to perform other duties as assigned
- Completion of other trainings as required
- Ability to work in different shifts.
- Fluent in English
- Previous Canadian work experience or experience working directly with Canadian industries.
