SAIC is seeking a Red Hat Linux Systems Administrator located at the K. Mark Takai Pacific Warfighting Center on Ford Island in Hawaii to support USPACOM J76 to build, maintain, secure, and optimize critical enterprise Linux infrastructure across on-premises environments. In this role, you will lead the end-to-end lifecycle of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) systems, from automated provisioning and configuration management to routine patching, DoD STIG compliance, and exercise support.
Job Description:
- Install, configure, optimize, and administer Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) servers across enterprise, simulation, and exercise networks (including NDM and PTEN-S).
- Perform routine OS and application patching, kernel updates, and repository management using Red Hat Satellite and disconnected local mirror repositories.
- Harden systems against DISA STIGs using automated tools (Ansible, SCAP Compliance Checker), track findings, and remediate ACAS/Nessus vulnerabilities in response to DoD CTOs/IAVMs.
- Diagnose and resolve complex operating system, storage, network, and service-level issues to ensure maximum uptime across physical and virtualized enterprise infrastructure.
- Maintain and develop Ansible playbooks for baseline configuration management, STIG enforcement, and routine maintenance tasks.
- Provide systems and OS-level technical support to Modeling & Simulation (M&S) and C4I systems during live, virtual, and constructive exercise events.
- Monitor system health, performance, storage allocations, and availability of Linux infrastructure; implement proactive remediation.
- Author and update standard operating procedures (SOPs), system build documentation, and technical troubleshooting guides.
- Collaborate with cross-functional infrastructure and Windows systems engineers to support core services, shared storage, and directory integration.
- Perform other systems administration tasks as assigned.
Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s and nine (9)+ years of related experience; additional four (4) years of experience considered in lieu of degree.
- Extensive hands-on experience installing, configuring, troubleshooting, and administering Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL 8/9/10) in an enterprise environment.
- Proven experience executing Linux patching, package management, and lifecycle version upgrades utilizing Red Hat Satellite Server or local repository mirrors.
- Strong background in DoD security compliance, including applying and auditing DISA STIGs, and remediating ACAS vulnerability findings.
- Practical experience writing and running Ansible playbooks for automated configuration management and security hardening.
- Solid understanding of core networking and infrastructure services (DNS, DHCP, NTP, SSH, LDAP/Kerberos, NFS).
- Familiarity with virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware ESXi/vCenter) hosting Linux guests.
Required Certifications:
- Must have a current DoD 8570 IAT II compliance certification (Security+ CE or greater), prior to hire.
Required Clearance:
- Must have an Active Secret Clearance with ability to obtain a TS/SCI Clearance.
- Must be a current US Citizen.
