Description

The Recovery Support Specialist supports the program by ensuring that quality direct care services are provided to the clients. The Recovery Support Specialist reports to the Program Director for regular supervision and assignments.

Location: New Joelyn’s Home near Franklin Park, provides residential treatment programs for 24 individuals with substance use disorder. The program is three-to-nine months long and helps support the residents with co-occurring conditions, such as mental health and chronic health conditions. New Joelyn's specializes in serving the LGBTQ+ community, as well as women who are allies. 


Essential Functions:

  • Act in accordance with Victory Programs, Inc.’s Standards of Excellence & Philosophy of Care at all times including maintaining professional ethics, boundaries and client confidentiality.
  • Provide quality, empathetic customer service to the clients in the program.
  • Ensure that when clients take medication, all policies and procedures are followed for assisting and monitoring the clients’ self-administration of medication.
  • Responsible for medication documentation, including: counting controlled medication, documenting incoming medication and medication removal, signing off on medication as it is taken by the clients.
  • Provide milieu coverage, including: maintaining and assessing the integrity of the program’s therapeutic milieu, empowering clients to act in accordance with guidelines in the program; conduct rounds; answer phones and front door; and other duties as assigned.
  • Ensure all policies and procedures related to maintaining a safe and appropriate residential environment are followed. This includes ensuring that the facility is safe, clean, and in a good state of repair; that fire escape routes are free of obstacles; and reporting facility concerns.
  • Input client/program data in Electronic Health Records.
  • Facilitate and/or co-facilitate client groups and complete required group facilitation documentation.
  • Provide referrals as needed.

Non-Essential Functions:

  • Participate and support the agency in program events, State House rallies, fundraising and advocacy events, rallies, walks and any additional functions.
  • Perform any other duty or task that may be requested from time to time by your supervisor or their designee.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to work independently and cooperatively as a member of a professional team.
  • Ability to engage with clients in an instructive, directive, and compassionate manner.
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals of diverse race/ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, sex and drug cultures, age groups, religion, country of origin, disability and economic status.
  • Must be CPR certified (may be obtained upon hire)
  • Completed TB screening (may be obtained upon hire)
  • Three work related professional references; at least 2 from manager or supervisor.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the field of addiction or mental health.
  • Knowledge of the addiction recovery process or willingness to acquire it within the first six months of employment.
  • Strong organizational and record-keeping skills.

Position Type: Full-time (40 hours) Monday - Friday 3:30pm - 11:30pm. On site.

Rate: $22.28/hr

Victory Programs offers a generous paid time off package to employees working 20+ hours a week including vacation, sick, and personal time as well as holidays. Upon hire, employees working 20+ hours a week are entitled to up to: 4 personal days, 160 sick hours, 10 holidays and 3 1/2 weeks of vacation. These figures adjust based on full time or part time status and allocated vacation time increases with length of employment.
