Is this your next role?

At Heartland, reconciliations are more than balancing numbers. They are a critical control that helps minimise financial risk, maintain data integrity, and ensure we deliver the best outcomes for our customers.

As a Reconciliations Analyst, you'll be responsible for the daily reconciliation of inward and outward settlements and key control accounts across the bank. You'll investigate discrepancies, escalate and resolve reconciling items, and ensure financial transactions are accurately accounted for to support internal and external reporting.

You'll play an important role in maintaining the accuracy and completeness of Heartland's financial data while helping drive continuous improvement in our reconciliation processes through smart use of technology and effective risk management.

What you'll do

  • Perform daily reconciliations of key control accounts and settlement activities.
  • Allocate and manage relevant transactions from UPI queues.
  • Investigate, analyse, and resolve reconciling items and variances.
  • Escalate issues and potential risk exposures appropriately and in a timely manner.
  • Prepare monthly reconciliations in accordance with Heartland's Reconciliation Policy.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and supporting evidence for reconciliations.
  • Monitor and clear outstanding reconciling items within agreed timeframes.
  • Support projects and initiatives that impact reconciliation processes.
  • Partner with teams across Finance, Operations, Retail, Collections, Asset Management, and Technology.
  • Ensure all activities align with Heartland's values, compliance requirements, and customer-first approach.

Does this sound like you?

You're naturally curious and enjoy getting to the bottom of complex issues. With exceptional attention to detail and strong analytical skills, you're comfortable working with large volumes of data and identifying discrepancies others might miss.

You thrive in a fast-paced environment, pick up new systems quickly, and enjoy working collaboratively to achieve team goals. Most importantly, you care about accuracy, accountability, and delivering quality outcomes.

We're looking for someone with:

  • At least 3 years' experience reconciling data within a complex, high-volume environment.
  • A solid understanding of accounting and banking principles.
  • Experience reconciling complex accounts and large data sets.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced Excel capabilities, including formulas, pivots, and data analysis tools.
  • Experience with reporting and analytical tools such as Power Query, Power Pivot, or Power BI.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • The ability to prioritise competing demands and work effectively under deadlines.
  • Banking or financial services experience (preferred).
  • Accounting qualifications or progress toward a professional accounting qualification (preferred).
  • Experience with Workday ERP (preferred).
