The Role
MatX is hiring for a friendly, reliable, and professional Part-Time Receptionist (also open to Full Time) to be the welcoming face of our office during core business hours. You will help shape how employees feel about coming into the office, how candidates experience us during interviews, and how smoothly the workplace functions day to day. We’re looking for someone who is energized by a people-facing role. This is a great opportunity for someone who is looking for consistent midday hours that fit around other commitments. This role also has the opportunity to grow as we grow!
What you’ll do here.
- Greet employees, candidates, and guests with professionalism and warmth
- Coordinate with security to ensure a smooth and secure front desk experience including signing in and directing visitors
- Manage incoming and outgoing mail, packages, and deliveries throughout the day, including intake and end-of-day handling
- Coordinate lunch delivery arrivals and alert team members when lunch is delivered for them
- Maintain a welcoming and organized reception area
- Answer and route incoming calls as needed via our Google Voice office phone
- Pitch in during busy moments, events, and high-traffic days, assisting with light administrative tasks
- Assist office manager with office vendors (custodial, food service, repairs) as needed
- This role is onsite 5 days per week. Hours are flexible but ideally minimum between 10am-2pm.
Who You Are
This position is designed around a midday schedule, making it an excellent fit for people with commitments earlier in the morning or later in the afternoon, including: new or returning parents, semi-retired or returning professionals, part-time students, or others looking for greater schedule flexibility.
Additionally, ideally you are:
- Warm, professional, and personable
- Reliable and punctual
- Has strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to multitask and stay organized in a busy environment
- Prior experience in a reception, hospitality, or customer-facing role is a plus, but not required
- Comfortable with basic office technology (phone systems, email, delivery apps, etc.)
Compensation:
The US base salary for this full-time position is determined based on a variety of factors, including role, experience, location, job-related skills, and relevant education and training. Career length is only a guideline for compensation.
- Full-time (salary): 40-50K/year
- Part-time (salary): 80-90K/year

All candidates must be authorized to work in the United States, and be willing to work onsite Monday through Friday at our office in Mountain View, CA.

MatX designs hardware tailored for the world’s best AI models: We dedicate every transistor to maximizing performance for large models. For these models, we deliver 10× more computing power, enabling AI labs to make models an order of magnitude smarter and more useful. Our hardware would make it possible to train GPT-4 and run ChatGPT, but on the budget of a small startup.
