What Does a Receiving Specialist Do
- Receive and inspect incoming shipments for accuracy, completeness, and quality
- Verify that shipments match packing lists and purchase orders, reporting any discrepancies or damages
- Ensure received items meet quality standards and specifications before stocking
- Accurately log received items into the inventory system and update records as needed
- Maintain detailed and organized documentation of received shipments for auditing and tracking purposes
- Communicate effectively with vendors, carriers, and internal teams to resolve shipment discrepancies or delays

What It Takes to Be Successful as a Receiving Specialist?

- Safely lift and move up to 50 lbs independently and heavier loads with assistance or equipment as needed
- Forklift certified highly preferred
- Work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy and organization
- Follow all safety regulations and best practices to ensure a secure and compliant work environment
- Demonstrate strong teamwork skills, working closely with internal departments and vendors
- Proficiently use POS systems and basic computer applications for inventory tracking and receiving tasks

- Provide exceptional customer service, building strong relationships and contributing to sales growth
- Maintain flexible availability, including nights, weekends and holidays, as needed to support business operations
