The Interventionist fulfills the mission of the Catholic school by evaluating the learners’ needs and then working with the student within the framework of the school’s philosophy, organization, and curriculum. The Tutor provides the appropriate learning atmosphere and activities designed to maximize student competencies and skills for intellectual, emotional, physical, social, and spiritual growth toward a successful future. 


Ministerial Character:

The Diocesan Bishop is the visible principle and foundation of unity at Sacred Heart Catholic Church and School.  In a unique and visible way, he makes Christ's mission present and enduring as the Shepherd of the Christian Community.  In order to fulfill his mission, the Diocesan Bishop employs suitable, chosen collaborators, who are clerics, religious, and lay people.  He shares with them the apostolic mission and entrusts various responsibilities to them.

Each position employed in the Diocese of Corpus Christi helps to extend the ministry of the Diocesan Bishop in particular ways as outlined in the job duties and responsibilities. Therefore, this position is closely connected to and assists the Diocesan Bishop in the performance of his ministry and thereby engages in ministry for the church. When this is a full-time position, the employee is eligible for medical insurance and other benefits offered by the Diocese of Corpus Christi.



Responsibilities:

  • As an integral part of ministry for the Church, this position will support and uphold the philosophy of Catholic ministry and the mission of the Diocese of Corpus Christi in both professional and personal life
  • Act as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church
  • Continuously grow in the ministry by participating in religious ceremonies, training sessions, and reflection activities as directed
  • Serve students needing additional individual or small group instruction

 

Mental/Physical Demands:

  • Regular bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching, and balancing
  • Ability to left 10 pounds or more
  • Ability to maintain composure under duress
Qualifications

Minimum ​Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree, with 12 hours in education or a valid state certificate as specified by the Texas Catholic Conference of Bishops’ Education Department and the Diocese of Corpus Christi
  • Training and experience in the Science of Teaching Reading, Fountas & Pinnell Phonetics screening, and Orton & Gillingham Dyslexia Training
  • Teachers of Religion must fulfill the 150-hour minimum requirements for religious education
  • Non-Catholic teachers are required to have a knowledge of the Catholic faith and support the goals of Catholic tradition in education
  • Teaching experience at the elementary level is preferred
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with diocesan policies and procedures
  • Valid Texas driver’s license
  • Must be 21 years old or older

 

Additional Requirements:

  • Must successfully complete criminal history background check, motor vehicle record review, and drug screening
  • Certification in Safe Environment training provided by the Office for Safe Environment and Child & Family Resources is required
  • Must adhere to all diocesan policies and procedures
