We are seeking a talented individual to join our React Risk Consultant team, part of our risk business at Marsh. This role will be based in Chicago. This is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office.
In this role, you will design, build, and support full-stack web applications that enable data-driven insights and improve client and internal experiences. You will partner closely with clients and internal stakeholders to translate business needs into technical solutions, while contributing to modern engineering practices, cloud deployment, and ongoing system improvement.
We will count on you to:- Independently design, develop, code, test, and debug software programs and technical modules using the MERN stack (MongoDB, Express.js, React.js, Node.js) and SQL.
- Collaborate with Lead developers and teammates to meet project plan goals, develop and communicate project plans, and deliver high-quality solutions under limited guidance.
- Provide technical support to clients and internal teams, including help desk support for escalated issues; monitor trends from support calls to recommend improvements.
- Manage source code using Git (branching, merging, pull requests) and promote version control best practices across the team.
- Deploy and maintain applications on AWS infrastructure (e.g., EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS) and follow software development best practices for security, documentation, testing, and performance.
- Gather, document, and validate business requirements with clients and internal teams; translate needs into actionable requirements and functional specifications to support solution development.
- Minimum 5 years of professional full-stack web development experience with a focus on the MERN stack (MongoDB, Express.js, React.js, Node.js).
- Strong proficiency with SQL databases, including complex query writing and database design.
- Hands-on experience with Git version control and collaborative workflows.
- Practical knowledge of AWS cloud services and deployment best practices, with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
- Experience with containerization and orchestration tools such as Docker and Kubernetes, plus familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automation.
- Knowledge of TypeScript and/or additional modern JavaScript frameworks; experience leveraging AI-driven tools to improve development speed and quality.
- Domain knowledge in property & casualty insurance and claims processes, and/or advanced analytics skills using Excel, Power BI, and R Shiny.
