Salary Range:

$142,100.00 - $236,900.00

About the Role

As R&D Manager you will lead a multi-disciplinary, highly skilled team on agile projects running under the SAFe methodology, to deliver Cloud Services as part of the Data Platform used by AVEVA’s suite of Industrial Engineering products. You will proactively ensure that solutions are delivered that conform to agreed AVEVA quality, design, technical and completeness guidelines, using appropriate tooling and technology and be adept at delivering complex digital projects, breaking down barriers for your team and getting into the detail to make things happen when needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Knowledge of large scale Azure SQL implementation(s) with working experience in design and development of related API for cloud (Stored procedures…) Use a variety of programming languages and development tools to build, test, implement, and support the development of web/cloud software applications.

  • Lead, motivate and facilitate a development team making use of your people, project management and technical skills

  • Coordinate closely with Product Owners, Managers and team members to plan and deliver projects against a roadmap

  • Implement best-practice tools and processes

  • Contribute in a technical capacity and enable members of the team to engage in and steer technical direction and decision making

  • Proficiently perform the role of a Scrum Master as needed, ensuring Scrum practices are followed, along with generating Scrum metrics and reporting to keep the team running effectively.

  • Drive the collaborative, dynamic planning process – manage shifts in priorities and prioritise the work that needs to be done against the capacity and capability of the team

  • Possess excellent communication and presentation skills across a variety of audiences

  • Provides coaching and mentoring to junior staff and peer group.

  • Guide small team to maintain and enhance aspects of cloud products

Ideal Experience

  • Proven experience of leading technical teams, including people management, developing Cloud based solutions.

  • A highly motivated person with the ability to self-manage that is passionate about collaborating with others to drive results and can motivate others to do the same to improve the organization

  • Solid experience using a range of agile project management methods and tools, balancing multiple priorities and dealing with ambiguity

  • Demonstrable Software Development and Design experience using modern programming languages and tools including C#

  • Strong written, verbal and presentation skills, able to convey information clearly and concisely with a high attention to detail

  • Maintains and develops relevant industry knowledge.

  • Working knowledge of SQL Server\Azure SQL and related tools (SQL Server Management Studio)

  • Knowledge of API, REST, microservices, serverless architecture and container-based solutions.

  • Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and analytical skills

  • Expert to identify and analyze a situation or problem using pattern recognition or logical reasoning that results in appropriate and practical solutions.

Hybrid working
