Job purpose
The Ramp Supervisor is responsible for coordinating all activities associated with the safe efficient operation of the ramp department; the allocation of manpower and all Ground Service Equipment (GSE) as well as the safe movement of aircraft on and off the gate.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- The Ramp Supervisor is in charge of the overall ramp operation and has direct responsibility for manpower planning and the smooth running of the operation below the wing.
- Equipment serviceability and rental is closely monitored and kept at minimal.
- Reporting of ramp daily operation is completed and promptly submitted the pertinent department / persons in a timely manner.
- To provide guidance, staff motivation and discipline of staff.
- Staff Appraisal are completed and submitted in accordance with JDS Employee Development Procedures (Probationary, Bi-Annual & Annual or Staff Advancement /Promotion).
- Performing of daily functions as assigned or as required to enhance the performance of the Ramp Department.
- To adhere to all safety standards and procedures, ensuring the safety, the quality and the security in your area of responsibility.
- Perform any other relevant duties as instructed by the Ramp Manager.
Qualifications:
- Tertiary Diploma in Operations Management or Production.
- Holder of a valid driver’s license.
- Computer literacy.
- A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in the Airline Operations
- Training in Supervisory Management
- Knowledge of operations management
- Knowledge of ramp and safety procedures.
- Ramp training including use of vehicles, aircraft marshaling and safety.
- Training in the use of all ramp equipment and units including TUG, GPU, AC Unit, Conveyor Belt, Cones and Chocks
- Knowledge of Company rules and regulations
- On the job training in new aircraft.
- Dangerous goods training.
