Who will you be working with?

Wabtec’s Transit products and services serve all types of rail transit, from high-speed trains to regional networks and metro systems. Our integrated series of components, manufactured using advanced technologies, are designed to meet our customers’ needs for safety, energy efficiency and reliability. Whether it’s improving air quality for passengers with cleaner, greener HVAC systems; providing safe, reliable braking systems or pantographs or passenger information systems; or refining accessibility with advanced door system technology, our products are designed to meet the specific needs of our customers.

Where is the position located? The position can be based at either of our office in Rydalmere, Sydney or Eagle Farm, Brisbane

What will your typical day look like?

The Key Account Manager will be responsible for the business and sales growth leadership, encompassing the overall customer product portfolio.  This role requires a highly capable sales individual with a good depth of experience in driving growth through a high level of activity. Experience in customer facing roles within high engineering value add products and systems is required and experience in the rail industry is highly desirable. The Key Account Manager will serve as the key interface with the customer and effectively manage interactions across the full range of Wabtec Transit products.

  • Be responsible for business and sales growth leadership for the Wabtec product portfolio for your Key Account/s;

  • Build customer relationships for the purpose of business development and sales;

  • Develop marketing, sales and strategic business plans and be responsible for delivering order/ revenue commitments;

  • Develop influential and effective relationships at all levels of the customer’s organization and develop strategies to win business;

  • Develop customer strategies, campaign plans, and leadership in their execution;

  • Lead the development of commercial proposals with support from purchasing, operations, projects and engineering;

  • Engagement of key overseas stakeholders, based on Product line locations (European based locations) for support in delivering OE (Original Equipment) opportunities

  • Provide specific leadership, plans, and actions to assure that Wabtec wins profitable sales;

  • Responsible for overall customer satisfaction evaluation, plans, and follow through;

  • Lead and support internal key stakeholders including operations, finance, customer services, engineering projects and others in the implementation of customer strategies;

  • Commitment to Quality, Safety and Environmental requirements; and

  • Any other duties directed by your manager.

This role requires a highly capable sales individual with a good depth of experience in driving growth through a high level of activity. Experience in customer facing roles within high engineering value add products and systems is required and experience in the rail industry is highly desirable.

The Key Account Manager will serve as the key interface with the customer and effectively manage interactions across the full range of Wabtec Transit products.

  • Minimum of 5 years of commercial experience including product management and/or direct selling;

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Transportation / Logistics, Engineering, or Computer Science from an accredited college or university;

  • Proven business and sales team leadership skills with a successful growth track record and margin retention;

  • Competitive drive, courage, determination and passion;

  • Establishment of effective customer partnerships and the understanding of stakeholder analysis, engagement and influence;

  • Demonstrated business team leadership, externally with customers and internally between Operations, Engineering and Project Management;

  • Executive presence, confidence, communication skills, influence skills and superior negotiation skills;

  • Railroad products, services, industry knowledge and technical depth and breadth;

  • Ability to lead and manage through changing business conditions;

  • Expertise in establishing Value / Price offer combined with reality-based product and service differentiation;

  • Knowledge of actionable market segmentation and analysis to deepen understanding of customer's buying behavior; and

  • Ability to navigate a matrix based organization with multiple reporting lines, off shore and local.

  • Willingness to learn, share, grow and seek commercial excellence.
