Job description

Role Purpose
We are seeking a Rail Domain Consultant to lead the functional design of a Maintenance Management Information System (MMIS). Your mission is to serve as the bridge between the customer’s maintenance engineering teams and the IT implementation arm. You will be responsible for defining the functional blueprint that ensures high fleet availability and regulatory compliance, regardless of the underlying EAM software.

Domain Expertise Requirements
•    Deep Rail Background: Minimum 10 years of experience in Rail Maintenance Operations or Rolling Stock Engineering. You must speak the language of a depot (e.g., duty cycles, exams, concessions, and overhaul intervals).
•    EAM Lifecycle Knowledge: Proven experience leading at least two large-scale EAM/MMIS implementations (e.g., IBM Maximo, SAP EAM, CarlSoft, Hexagon or ServiceMax) in a transportation context.
•    Italian Market Fluency: Comprehensive understanding of the Italian rail regulatory environment and the specific operational challenges of regional/national rail networks in Italy.
•    The "Architectural" Eye: Ability to define complex asset hierarchies and data structures that support both "Fixed" (track/signaling) and "Linear/Mobile" (trainsets) assets.

Professional Attributes
•    Consultative Assertiveness: You are comfortable saying "no" to a customer when a request contradicts maintenance best practices or system scalability.
•    Process over Product: You focus on the "What" and "Why" before the "How." You ensure the business process is robust before it is mapped to any software.
•    Bilingual Capability: Native or professional fluency in Italian is essential for depot-level engagement; English is required for international project standards.

Evaluation Criteria
The ideal candidate will be evaluated on their ability to:
1.    Reduce process complexity during the requirement-gathering phase.
2.    Demonstrate a track record of improving "Fleet Availability" through better system design.
3.    Successfully mediate between engineering requirements and IT constraints.
4.    Business Transformation Implementation experience in Rail depots.
