GENERAL OVERVIEW:
This role performs prescribed radiographic imaging procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision. Competently performs a variety of technical procedures that require independent judgment and initiative. Provides supervision of staff and area functions as well as serve as a physician liaison.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Positions patients and selects anatomic and technical parameters accurately for independent diagnostic radiographic imaging per established protocols. Prepares for and assists physician while performing procedures. Prepares contrast media and/or medications within accepted scope of practice. (45%)
- Acts as a mentor for new staff and uses technical expertise to improve staff performance. Assists in management of human resources (performance management), staff/equipment schedule, payroll, and non-labor expenses and activities for the department. Maintains a quality assurance program according to regulations established by regulatory bodies. Implements and educates staff on all imaging institute policies, procedures, guidelines, and quality initiatives for the radiologymodality. (30%)
- Assures completion of all required documentation for quality control and equipment maintenance, procedures, e.g. regulatory, billing, protocol and image distribution. Maintains ACR certification and registries (if applicable). (15%)
- Implements radiation safety and patient safety standards, and provides technical expertise for development of protocols. Implements and standardizes imaging protocols in coordination with radiation physics and division directors. (10%)
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum
- Associate’s Degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent education and experience.
- American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) (R) Radiography certification
- 3 years’ experience as a Registered Technologist
- CPR – American Heart Association
- Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
- Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate
- Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
Preferred
- Bachelor's degree
- Previous leadership experience
