Essential Functions 

  • Performs diagnostic radiographic examinations according to established protocols, positioning standards, and departmental procedures. 
  • Verifies patient identity, imaging orders, clinical indications, and pregnancy status when applicable. 
  • Explains procedures and provides professional, compassionate care throughout the patient experience. 
  • Positions patients and selects appropriate technical factors to obtain diagnostic-quality images while following ALARA principles. 
  • Reviews images for positioning, technical quality, and diagnostic acceptability before completing examinations. 
  • Maintains accurate documentation and ensures images and examinations are appropriately transmitted through PACS and the electronic medical record. 
  • Follows established workflows for routine, urgent, and STAT imaging and communicates appropriately with providers, radiologists, and clinical staff. 
  • Maintains the X-ray room, equipment, and work area in accordance with safety, infection prevention, and quality standards. 
  • Performs required equipment quality control activities and promptly reports equipment, image-quality, or safety concerns to the Director of Radiology. 
  • Maintains appropriate imaging supplies and assists with inventory management.
  • Complies with WFM policies, HIPAA requirements, radiation safety standards, and applicable regulatory requirements. 
  • Participates in departmental quality improvement activities, required training, and continuing education. 
  • Assists with scheduling, patient workflow, and other Radiology department functions as needed. 
  • Provides imaging services to pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. 
  • Provides coverage at other WFM locations as operational needs require. 
  • Performs other duties within the scope of the position as assigned.

Qualifications

                                                                          Radiologic Technologist 

Reports To: Director of Radiology 
Location: Waco Family Medicine – Temple 
Shift: Day Shift, 8-hour shift 
Status: Full-Time 

Position Summary 

The Radiologic Technologist serves as the primary X-ray technologist for the WFM Temple location and is responsible for providing safe, efficient, and high-quality diagnostic radiography services. This position independently manages daily X-ray operations while working collaboratively with providers and clinic staff to support timely, patient-centered care.

Education & Qualifications 

  • Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program. 

  • Current Texas Medical Board Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT) license. 

  • Current ARRT registration in Radiography, RT(R). 

  • Current BLS certification or ability to obtain within the required timeframe. 

  • Previous outpatient or ambulatory imaging experience preferred. 


PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Visual and auditory accuracy
  • Shift length - 8 hours
  • Indoor setting
  • Continuous use of computer and calculator
  • Long periods of sitting
  • Frequent use of telephone
  • Continuous repetitive grasping and manipulation of both hands
  • Continuous conversational communication
  • Occasional reaching, walking, squatting, bending, kneeling, twisting and climbing
  • Occasionally carrying, lifting, pushing and pulling of up to 25 lbs.
  • Occasionally working in confined, noisy, dusty areas
  • Frequent use of personal car
  • Understand/carry out simple/detailed, oral/written instructions
  • Memorize and retain instructions
  • Read and interpret detailed specifications

Skills Required

  • Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program
  • Current Texas Medical Board Medical Radiologic Technologist license
